Legal Counsel
Unblu Inc.
Role Description Unblu helps the world's leading banks and insurance companies deliver an in-person experience online. We provide highly secure engagement and collaboration software, enabling financial institutions to enrich the digital experience of their clients. The legal and compliance department at Unblu is made of three very techy team members and one external resource on call. It is a mostly remote but very tightly knit team where daily communication and constant collaboration are in the DNA of the department. The Legal Counsel will use their expertise in Privacy laws and data protection, IT law, cloud computing, SaaS and software licensing to support international inbound and outbound negotiations in relation to technology transactions in the field of e-banking, content management, AI chatbots, hardware and software, consulting services and more. Responsibilities - Negotiate and finalise Unblu and Unblu’s group companies’ customer, supplier and partner contracts in collaboration with other members of the team. - Collaborate in the preparation and automation of templates and playbooks. - Ensure accuracy of legal documents for external distribution. - Manage and own all data protection processes through the data protection organization tools. - Support and backup the DPO in its functions and advise the internal clients on data protection risks and negotiation strategy. - Seamlessly work with colleagues in different geographies to coordinate and harmonise document management, schedules and project tracking. - Contribute and collaborate with the other members of the legal team to maintain and share policies, guidelines, training materials, legal memoranda and templates. - Share legal knowledge, research materials and experience. - Maintain the legal templates and keep the legal files organised and accessible. - Own and ensure the smooth running of the signature process via Docusign et al. Skills and Competencies - Cloud and SaaS contract knowledge. - Proven experience in privacy laws, DPA and processes. - Software licensing knowledge. - Experience with secured document sharing, content management and LLM based legal tools. - Able to perform exceptionally in an objective-based remote environment. - Excellence in client management, setting expectations and owning deadlines. - Customer oriented with a sense for win-win objectives. - Able to see the big picture while keeping attention to details. - High integrity, reliability and work ethics. - Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment with tight deadlines. - Knowledge of Docusign and legal operations, including file processing and maintaining. - Used to work with Slack, content and collaborative tools. - Excellent practical knowledge of O365 and MS Word functions. Qualifications - First experience as legal counsel in a SaaS business. - Full qualifications (admitted or admissible to the bar) in a relevant EU jurisdiction. - Data Protection or Privacy qualifications would be a plus. - Language skills: Fluency in English and German, other European languages are an advantage. Travel Requirements - Regular travels to HQ and other Unblu’s sites or locations. - Occasional national and international travels. • Provide real time, business-focused commercial legal advice on commercial contracts, including non-disclosure agreements, marketing agreements, SaaS and other technology agreements. • Effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Finance, Facilities, Risk and Compliance, Privacy, Security, IT, HR, and within Legal to identify and solve problems, build partnerships, and complete commercial transactions. • Contribute to the development of templates, playbooks, and process improvements to support efficient contract review and negotiation.
