Job Description The Field Service Specialist II is an experienced field professional responsible for the commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of Copeland control systems and refrigeration equipment. This role demands a deep understanding of refrigeration system operation, control strategies, and integration with HVAC and building management systems. Field work will be required with extensive overnight travel. The Field Services Specialist II is required to establish, promote and maintain excellent rapport and communications with all customers, co-workers, sales representatives, and others as appropriate.    AS A FIELD SERVICE SPECIALIST II, YOU WILL: - Commission and verify control systems for refrigeration and HVAC applications (E2, E3, Site Supervisors, etc).  - Troubleshoot system issues both on-site and remotely, ensuring optimal performance.  - Develop and modify controller programs from I/O legends or existing sequences.  - Execute new store commissioning and remodel commissioning projects, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.  - Provide site-level customer support and training for contractors and end users.  - Review and interpret store prints, electrical schematics, and project specifications.  - Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Technical Support on project execution.  - Maintain strong working knowledge of third-party control systems and network integrations.  - Ensure all work meets safety and compliance standards.    REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS: - 3–5+ years of hands-on field experience in refrigeration, controls, or commissioning.  - Advanced understanding of refrigeration cycle operation (compressors, valves, racks, cases).  - Knowledge of building automation systems and HVAC control logic.  - CO₂ trans-critical or cascade system experience highly preferred.  - Proficiency with Modbus, BACnet, and other communication protocols preferred.   - Computer skills including Microsoft Office products, databases, Internet software, E-mail, Windows, etc.   - Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple site assignments.  - Ability to travel up to 85–90%.  - Legal work authorization in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role  Remote Work Arrangement:   This role is fully remote. A Day in the Life - Daily communication with General Superintendents regarding job specific needs including workforce and equipment requirements. - Daily contact with job site crews to ensure project time schedule and workforce needs are being met. - Schedules subcontractors to complete work as needed. Monitors subcontractor work to ensure work is complete per subcontractor agreement. - Maintains safe working environment by identifying workplace hazards and taking corrective action when necessary. - Ensures employees have up-to-date information on safety procedures and policies. - Conducts daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings, daily stretching, and weekly Tool Box topics. - Complete daily record keeping including: daily logs, equipment schedules, material schedules, and time cards. - Manages field personnel in fair and equitable manner in accordance with Veit policies, procedures, as well as compliance with local and federal laws. - Addresses staff performance issues as they occur. - Participates in pre-construction meetings to discuss project start up and project planning. Prepares and participates in regular job site meetings throughout the project lifecycle. - Provides timely and accurate documentation for reporting safety issues, equipment damage and work place injuries, according to Veit policies and procedures. - Ensures all work follows specified quality standards. Inspects field work for quality compliance, materials for quality compliance and review assembly of manufacturer’s literature and drawings before work begins. - Responds to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. - Regular participation in training for construction methods and safety. Supports training opportunities for staff. - Keeps supervisor informed of known actions, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform assignments or adversely affect company operations. What You’ll Need - Two to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - OSHA 10 hour (preferred but not required), OSHA 30 hour, HAZWOPER certificate, Excavating Safety Training, Blueprint Training, CPR, First Aid. - Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, reports, plans, specifications, and legal documents. - Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel spreadsheets, iPad and iPhone. - Ability to communicate and schedule project needs appropriately. - Good communication skills both oral and written when working with all levels of management and employees, external vendors and other business associates. Must clearly communicate directions and information. Speaks effectively before groups as well as individuals. Must have good interpersonal skills. - Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages ratios, and proportions to practical field quantity situations. - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. - Must possess the ability to satisfactorily perform each essential duty and responsibility. Other - Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test. - Must be over the age of 18. - Union affiliation or willingness to join the union is required. - Must possess valid driver’s license and ability to maintain satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record. - Position requires 8 to 10-hour work days and occasional weekends, as needed.
