Role Description The PS business area is seeking a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer to support the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Development program. This role will be the primary point of contact for Supplier Quality on THAAD Development. The responsibilities include: - Develop robust and highly capable supplier processes that support THAAD production and deliver consistent conforming material on-time. - Perform and Evaluate First Article Inspections per the requirements of AS9102 and train suppliers to meet BAE Systems expectations. - Partner with the Category Supplier Quality team on problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non‐conformances. - Perform Production Process Verifications (PPV's) at supplier locations and participate in PPAP review process and other aspects of APQP. - Flow down contractual requirements to suppliers based on QMS / part / risk / customer requirements via quality clausing codes. - Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and program quality to identify part and supplier risk for proactive mitigation activities. Qualifications - A self-starter who identifies problems/challenges and takes initiatives to identify a solution. - Exhibits strong Emotional Intelligence, relates well with individuals at all levels, builds rapport, fosters relationships, and collaborates with suppliers. - Strong communication skills to ensure suppliers understand requirements and expectations. - A problem solver who can lead a cross-functional team through targeted projects to reduce defects and/or increase throughput. Requirements - Bachelor's Degree with 6-8+ years of related experience or 10-12+ years of experience in lieu of degree. - Experience with development programs and/or qualification of new suppliers in support of development efforts. - Experience/knowledge with IR Focal Plane Array/semiconductor manufacturing. - Experience/knowledge in photonics/semiconductor packaging and assembly processes. - Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, specifications, requirements. Role Description BAE Systems is seeking a Principal level Supplier Quality Engineer with a specialized focus on Chemical Agent Resistance Coating (CARC) to support audits, supplier-specific requirements and offer technical support to suppliers. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that products meet stringent quality standards, minimize quality costs, and maximize customer satisfaction while ensuring that procedures and processes are compliant. This position is "fully remote" with travel of up to 75%. A self-starter and problem solver, you will utilize analytical skills to find innovative solutions to quality-related issues. You'll use your exceptional communication skills to ensure suppliers understand requirements and expectations. Using metrics and analytical tools, you'll quantify performance levels of individual suppliers and work with suppliers to develop improvement plans to achieve 100% Quality performance. - Conduct audits to assess supplier compliance to quality management systems and applicable special process requirements. - Evaluate the impact of nonconforming product and assess suppliers’ corrective actions. - Problem solve and perform root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances. - Perform inspections of product at supplier locations. - Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base. Qualifications - Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. - Chemical Agent Resistance Coating (CARC) related experience of 6 years, or the overall equivalent. - Must have Chemical Agent Resistance Coating (CARC) expertise. - Deep understanding of CARC paint technical specifications, including: - Chemical composition; - Military specification requirements; - Surface preparation and application techniques; - Corrosion resistance and environmental performance standards. - Working knowledge of Quality System Requirements. - Knowledgeable in engineering drawings and GD&T. - Well familiarized with engineering codes and standards. - Skills in problem solving – Root Cause / Corrective Action. - Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite. - Ability to exercise discretion and independent, sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations. - Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, to effectively disseminate information and work collaboratively. - Ability to develop and demonstrate research and presentation skills. - Good planning, time management, and organization skills. - Ability to develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with internal and external customers. - Able to support travel of up to 75%.
