Mortgage Hazard Insurance Specialist

• Monitor insurance coverage on all properties within the mortgage portfolio to ensure compliance with investor guidelines (e.g., Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA). • Review and verify hazard insurance documents for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate coverage amounts. • Track and process insurance renewals, cancellations, and reinstatements. • Disburse hazard insurance premiums from escrow accounts in a timely manner. • Coordinate force-placed insurance when borrower-provided coverage lapses, ensuring compliance with applicable laws. • Respond to borrower inquiries regarding insurance coverage, disbursements, and escrow accounts. • Work closely with insurance companies, agents, and vendors to resolve discrepancies and update records. • Maintain accurate records of insurance policies and track status in the servicing system. • Support the escrow analysis process with up-to-date insurance premium data. • Collaborate with Loss Draft and Claims departments on insurance claim-related issues. • Assist in audits and regulatory reporting as required. • Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Experience working in a mortgage servicing, property insurance, or escrow-related environment
- Familiarity with escrow accounts and lender-placed insurance processes
- Knowledge of servicing systems like Black Knight (MSP), or similar platforms
- Exposure to investor guidelines from Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, or FHA/VA
- Experience communicating with insurance carriers or an understanding of insurance declarations and coverages
- Career interest in compliance, operations, or mortgage servicing
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 1 year of work experience in a professional environment (e.g., customer service, administrative support, insurance, banking, or real estate)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficient with Google Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
