Role Description The Financial Assistant III in Materials Science & Engineering (DMSE) will provide complex and diverse financial support for the day-to-day operations of faculty labs. - Serve as primary departmental owner of the Financial Review and Control (FRC) process and administration related to DMSE Service centers - Perform financial activities for general, fund, and research accounts for faculty and their labs - Serve as a resource for faculty, postdocs, and students on financial transactions - Provide backup support to financial staff during absences - Exercise confidentiality of classified information based on office protocols - Perform other administrative, financial, and clerical duties as necessary Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent - A minimum of five years of financial or accounting experience - Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills - Ability to set priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously - Attention to detail and excellent follow-through - Strong accounting skills - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team - Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders with limited supervision Requirements - Bachelor’s degree (preferred) - Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and university accounting and purchasing systems (preferred) - Proficiency with MIT’s financial software, i.e., SAP and Cognos (preferred) Benefits - This position is fully remote

We are in search of a Senior Accountant Consultant to join our team and collaborate directly with our government contracting clients. In this role, you'll be an integral part of our accounting and finance client services team, providing accounting support throughout the entire accounting lifecycle. - Provide extensive accounting support, including month-end close processes, reconciliations, and journal entries. - Review and post journal entries and supporting documentation prepared by team members. - Prepare and reconcile formal account reconciliations for month-end close. - Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, LOCs, etc., swiftly resolving variances. - Lead month-end close for multiple engagements, ensuring accuracy of all workpapers and month-end close packs. - Uphold compliance with GAAP and DCAA regulations. - Facilitate regular client communication and lead internal and external client status calls. - Build strong client relationships by understanding their business needs and anticipating challenges. - Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in client accounting processes. - Collaborate with clients to develop and implement best practices and streamline workflows. - Maintain proactive communication with team members, clients, and leadership. - Fulfill any additional duties as assigned. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. - Minimum of 3+ years in full life cycle accounting in a GovCon environment. - Must be a US Citizen. - Proficiency in MS Excel. - Working knowledge of FASB and GAAP, along with familiarity with CAS, FAR, and DCAA compliance. - Experience in multiple GovCon accounting systems is a plus, with proficiency in Unanet preferred. - Exceptional attention to detail. - Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to proactively manage multiple projects and timelines. - Initiative, resourcefulness, and the ability to handle multiple assignments and deliverables with efficiency.
