Role Description The Pre-Commissioning Technician II is responsible for supporting the pre-commissioning department and more senior technicians in the startup and repair of systems while also working more independently. The tasks and duties are exposing the individual to basic system concepts, troubleshooting methodologies, and continue building higher level technician skills such as creative thinking and time management. - Startup: Responsible for starting up less complex equipment; assisting higher level technicians with complex equipment and systems, gathering product info (Model #'s, Serial #'s, Belt, filter sizes). - Diagnose and Repair: Assisting more senior technicians troubleshooting problems and repairing them. - Support for Operations: Assisting with system flushing, TAB, setting PRV's, maintaining belts, greasing bearings and motors before turnover. - Review of Submittal Documents: Verifying equipment on job and submittal match voltage/amps/HP/etc. - Mentoring of Other Employees: Not expected to provide direct mentoring to other employees, either within, or outside of the department. - After Hours Work: Works overtime on occasion. Qualifications - 20 hours of continued education. - 2+ years' experience. - EPA 608 Certification. - OSHA 30 certification. - NFPA 70 certification. - Ability to develop the following skills through mentorship, continuing education and hands-on activity: - Safety Habits. - Copper Tube Brazing. - Soft Skills. - Time Management. - Troubleshooting System Knowledge. - Hydronic Systems. - VRF Systems. - Chiller Operation. - Effective verbal and written communication skills. - Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment. - Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors. - Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary. Physical/Work Environment Requirements - NFPA 70 compliant uniform (1 set will be provided by the company, and replaced annually). - Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and/or poles. - Climbing stairs. - Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. - Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. - Operating machinery and/or power tools. - Outdoor elements such as precipitation, heat, cold, and/or wind. - Noisy environment. - Light to heavy work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects from 20-100 pounds. • Frequent travel anywhere in the lower 48 states and possibly Canada (Avg. 4 days per week). • Installation of monitoring systems near electric power generating plants, measuring flow on overhead power lines (wirelessly measurement – no contact with powerlines). • Work with team members to pre-plan and complete sensor installations, troubleshoot technical problems and ship/receive new or old equipment. • Verify incoming data quality from new sensors and calibrate the data collected from the devices. • Perform maintenance on previously installed monitoring systems in the network. • Troubleshoot problem components and replace faulty parts (on- and off-site). • Be prepared to work in all types of weather conditions. • Locating acceptable monitor sites and establishing relationship with landowners. • Heavy use of field service tracking software like Salesforce (inventory, job tracking and customer/contract management).
