Staff Accountant
Rula
• Support the daily operations of Rula’s Accounting team as the company continues to grow. • Help ensure invoices are processed accurately, cash activity is tracked carefully, and monthly financial close tasks are completed on time and with attention to detail. • Work closely with a collaborative Accounting team and partner with teammates across Finance to support reliable financial reporting that helps the business operate smoothly. • A great fit for someone who enjoys hands-on accounting work, values clear processes, and wants to see the direct impact of their work in helping Rula expand access to mental health care.
Job Requirements
- 2+ years of accounting experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Solid foundational knowledge of GAAP
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, VLOOKUPs, and Pivot Tables) or Google Sheets
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to address issues as they arise
- A high level of professionalism, ethics, and integrity in handling financial data and confidential information

- 1+ years experience at a high-growth start-up
- A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation / or currently working towards it
- Experience using NetSuite, Bill.com, Zip, Ramp, or similar ERP systems

Role Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant who thrives in a multi-client environment and has strong expertise in accrual accounting and project-based financials. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys independent problem-solving, maintaining high-quality financial records, and delivering accurate financial reporting to clients. You will manage a small portfolio of clients and take full ownership of their monthly financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and actionable financial insights. Key Responsibilities - End-to-End Accounting Operations - Manage the full month-end close process for a portfolio of clients in accordance with U.S. GAAP. - Categorize financial transactions, manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes, and reconcile accounts. - Perform accrual accounting adjustments and maintain accurate financial records. - Track project costs including labor, materials, and job-specific expenses to ensure accurate job costing. - Identify missing, prepaid, or misclassified expenses and correct discrepancies. - Manage sales tax filing and compliance for U.S.-based clients. - Troubleshoot integration issues between CRM systems, billing systems, and accounting platforms. - Client Advisory & Communication - Prepare monthly financial statements including variance analysis and performance insights. - Provide commentary on financial trends and key performance indicators. - Maintain professional communication with clients via email and occasional virtual meetings. - Assist with client onboarding, including reviewing historical financial records and correcting accounting discrepancies. - Workflow Discipline & Compliance - Maintain organized documentation and financial records that can withstand audit review. - Support clients during audit preparation and documentation review. - Ensure accounting processes follow best practices and remain compliant with financial standards.
