Role Description The Howard County Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is a six-week program running from July 6, 2026, to August 14, 2026, designed to provide Howard County youth and young adults aged 14-15 years old with enriching and constructive summer work experiences. As a participant in this program, the SYEP Participant will be given the opportunity to earn a competitive wage while also learning valuable skills and gaining hands-on experience in various employment in a virtual setting. - Selected SYEP Participants will earn a competitive wage of $16.00 per hour (non-negotiable). - This position will work up to 15 hours per week. Because SYEP Participants may be assigned to virtual organizations and workplace settings that differ substantially from one another, the specific duties and responsibilities assigned to an SYEP Participant will also vary depending on the position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help an SYEP Participant perform the essential functions of their position. - Conduct online research on various topics as needed. - Participate in virtual meetings and contribute ideas or feedback. - Respond to emails and messages, ensuring timely communication. - Support the team with any additional tasks as required. Qualifications - Must reside in Howard County. - Must be between the ages of 14 and 15 years old. - Youth applicants must have access to a reliable internet connection and a computer with a working microphone and camera, as their employment will be virtual/remote. - There are no minimum education or experience requirements.
