Job Description AECOM’s Data Center Practice is seeking a Network Connectivity & Fiber Infrastructure Lead to join our US Data Center Team. This position offers the flexibility of a remote work schedule and can be based from a variety of locations in the US where AECOM has an office. Although the position is primarily remote periodic travel may be required for client meetings, key project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, or other business‑critical activities. Travel is expected to be occasional and scheduled in advance AECOM is a leader in the global data center consulting industry with robust teams in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with our teams around the world on high-profile, fast-paced data center projects for global clients. This is a hands-on, client-facing role with an opportunity for upward career mobility. - The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data center ICT and fiber infrastructure and will be able to independently: - Develop and implement solutions to client challenges on assigned projects. - Create work plans and define tasks for junior engineers. - Serve as a subject matter expert during client engagements, including active projects and pursuits. - Apply in-depth knowledge of ICT infrastructure systems to perform complex and specialized assignments, including surveying, designing, developing, and administering construction for ICT and fiber infrastructure projects such as data centers, cable landing stations, and other advanced facilities. - Lead ICT design efforts for: - Data center buildings - Structured Cabling Systems (SCS) - Campus / Wide Area Networks (WAN) - Passive Optical Networks (PON) - Outside Plant (OSP) - Work independently to deliver complete drawing packages with support from a BIM team. - Propose innovative solutions to address new or complex design challenges. - Perform work in accordance with agreed-upon budgets and schedules with minimal supervision. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited college/university plus 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. - Minimum 5 years of design experience with ICT infrastructure with minimum 2 years of experience with hyperscale data center ICT design. - Current BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) Certification. Preferred Qualifications: - 3+ years of experience with hyperscale data center ICT design. - Professional experience and/or proficiency in various software products, including but not limited to, Revit, ACC, AutoCAD, Visio Professional, Bluebeam Extreme (Revu), Microsoft Project, Microsoft 365 Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) and other ICT Specific Programs. - Professional experience and/or proficiency in various Codes Standards and regulations including but not limited to Permitting, State & Local Ordinances, IEEE – C2 Standard (National Electrical Safety Code), OSHA - 1910 Standards, TIA – Cabling Standards, TIA – Data Center Standards and BICSI – TDMM and other Manuals. The Quality Coordinator will work as an extension of the local Practice Location and Provider teams by completing Population Health Management tasks in a centralized location.
