Sales Engineer

Sumo Logic

• Partner with the Account Executives to understand customer challenges and mains, and articulate Sumo Logic’s value proposition, vision, and strategy to customers • Technically close complex opportunities through advanced competitive knowledge, technical skill, and credibility • Understand and help orchestrate all phases of the sales cycle, including leading technical validations during the Proof of Value phase  • Be successful working with all levels of an organization, from executives down to individual developers and Site Reliability Engineers • Deliver product and technical demonstrations of the Sumo Logic service • Work cross functionally with Product Management and Engineering to improve the Sumo Logic service based on your experience with customers

Job Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • 2+ years as a Solutions Engineer (preferred), Solutions Architect (preferred), Sales Engineer (preferred), Implementation Consultant, Support Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or a Software Developer with experience leading projects and/or working with customers
  • Hands on knowledge of Security related products, technologies, and sources such as IDS/IPS, SIEM/Log Management, Network / Endpoint Security, Threat Detection, Incident Response, MSSP/MDR, Threat Feeds, CASB, etc
  • Experience with open source collections (Telegraf, FluentBit, FluentD, Open Telemetry, etc.) (preferred)
  • Experience with leading and running technical validations like Proof of Value (preferred)
  • Experience selling and working with pure SaaS solutions in multi-tenant architectures
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure (certification is preferred)
  • A broad background and understanding of technical infrastructure (servers, networking devices, storage, etc.)
  • Modern application architecture (micro-services, containers) understanding and experience working with Kubernetes, Docker, and/or Lambda (preferred)
  • Experience with various monitoring tools like Splunk, Datadog, Elastic, New Relic, etc. (preferred)
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment and experience at a successful startup (preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as business and technical acumen.

As a Sales Engineer, you will be the technical lead throughout the sales process for some of the largest and most challenging projects in the energy storage industry. This is a customer-facing role, and also requires interaction with many different groups internally including Product, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Project Execution. Key Responsibilities - Develop a deep understanding for the Fluence energy storage technology platforms and provide sales teams with technical support as well as product configuration guidance to drive successful equipment-only and turn-key sales. - Review, understand and negotiate detailed technical specifications for energy storage core and BOP scope (MV, HV, and civil) - Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for new sales. - Lead technical aspects of contract negotiations – scope, schedule, and performance guarantees. - Assist in the development of sales tools and support materials to streamline and grow sales. - Capture customer technical and application requirements to help shape product roadmaps. Required Qualifications and Experience - A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical Preferred) - 3-10 years’ work experience in energy storage, solar, or other power generation - Ability to solve complex technical problems and communicate results. - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Experience with contract negotiations and familiarity with key contract areas. - Knowledge of applicable standards, codes and regulations - Entrepreneurial drive and ability to prioritize and execute on many tasks in parallel. - Willing and able to travel, domestically and internationally, up to 20% of the time. In compliance with California pay transparency regulations, the base salary range for this position is $146,000-$185,000+ per year. Final compensation will depend on experience and qualifications.
