Data Center Sales Engineer

• Collaborate with the sales team and subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify, qualify, and support potential customers across both hyperscale and enterprise segments, ensuring responsive and professional internal partnership. • Conduct technical discovery sessions to understand customer business objectives, workload requirements, growth plans, design requirements and operational constraints. • Design and propose customized data center solutions, including: Retail colocation and enterprise deployments, Wholesale and build-to-suit hyperscale solutions, Power, cooling, space, security, and resiliency architectures. • Deliver technical presentations and host technical due-dilligence virtual meetings with prospective clients with a focus on transparency and clarity, tailoring messaging to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise throughout the sales cycle, maintaining a high degree of professionalism and responsiveness with all internal (Sales, Design and Construction, Operations, Security, Networking and Instrumentation teams) as well as clients and external stakeholders. • Support complex, long-cycle hyperscale opportunities involving large power requirements, phased deployments, and standardized design models. • Support shorter-cycle enterprise and retail sales motions requiring flexible designs, compliance considerations, and workload-specific solutions. • Prepare and deliver detailed proposals, technical appendices, and quotations, including power density, redundancy models, and service descriptions. • Assist in the preparation of RFP/RFI responses for both hyperscale and enterprise customers, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and competitive differentiation. • Participate in customer meetings, site tours, workshops, and technical deep dives as a trusted advisor. • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external. • Stay up to date with industry trends, competitive offerings, and evolving data center technologies, including sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives. • Support the transition from sales to delivery by assisting with solution handoff to operations, design and construction, and implementation teams. • Contribute to achieving and exceeding sales targets and objectives by enabling technically sound and commercially viable solutions.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in data center sales engineering, technical sales, or infrastructure design roles.
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including: Mechanical and electrical systems (UPS, generators, power distribution).
  • Cooling architectures (air and liquid cooling concepts).
  • Physical security and access controls.
  • Operations, monitoring, and instrumentation.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale customers with large-scale, repeatable, and standardized infrastructure requirements.
  • Experience supporting enterprise and retail customers with diverse workloads, compliance needs, and varying power and density profiles.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, including business and executive stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating transparency, responsiveness, and professionalism in all internal and external interactions.
  • Proven ability to build, manage, and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with internal and external customers through transparent and responsive engagement.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable operating in both long-cycle and fast-paced sales environments.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support customers and sales activities.
