As an outbound-focused BDR, you’ll play a crucial role in WorkOS’s growth by identifying, engaging, and qualifying prospects in the enterprise and mid-market segments. Your primary goal will be to generate new opportunities through outbound outreach, research, and strategic engagement with target accounts. Responsibilities - Creative Outbound Prospecting: Generate new leads through targeted outbound activities, including cold calls, emails, LinkedIn outreach, events and other channels. We are looking for resourcefulness and innovation crafting new outbound strategies. - Account Research: Research and identify key prospects, decision-makers, and stakeholders within target accounts to tailor your outreach efforts. - Lead Qualification: Engage with prospects to understand their pain points, business needs, and how WorkOS can help solve their challenges, qualifying them for the sales team. - Pipeline Development: Set up high-quality meetings and demos for Account Executives by nurturing leads through the sales funnel. - CRM Hygiene: Diligently log all prospecting activities, conversations, and pipeline data in Salesforce (or other CRM systems) to maintain accurate records and forecast pipeline health. - Metrics-Driven: Meet and exceed monthly quotas for outbound activities, including the number of meetings set, emails sent, calls made, and qualified opportunities created. - Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, WorkOS product developments, and competitor offerings to position yourself as a trusted advisor to potential customers. Qualifications - Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a business development, sales development, or outbound sales role, preferably in SaaS or a technical product company - Target Personas: Experience outbounding to cofounders and CTOs - Writing Skills: Able to independently craft messages and campaigns to technical leaders - Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft personalized messages that resonate with different audiences - Technical Aptitude: Comfort with understanding technical products and effectively communicating the value of WorkOS to both technical and non-technical stakeholders - Tools: Experience with modern sales stack (i.e. Salesforce, Gong, Loom, Outreach) - Curiosity & Adaptability: Willingness to learn, adapt quickly to new strategies, and stay curious about the industry and your prospects' needs - Self-Starter: Highly motivated, self-sufficient, and able to work in a remote environment while managing your time effectively - You are located in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, able to work locally, available for in-person meetings with clients and customers, and able to attend in-person events as needed. • Own and evolve our identity infrastructure — Okta (SSO, MFA, Workflows, SCIM provisioning, lifecycle management), Google Workspace, and downstream SaaS integrations • Architect and ship automation across the IT stack — onboarding/offboarding workflows, access controls, license governance, and SaaS lifecycle management • Own macOS endpoint management end-to-end — zero-touch provisioning, policy enforcement, detection and remediation scripting via MDM • Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform for identity, SaaS, and cloud resources • Serve as the escalation point for complex systems issues (tier 2/3) — working with our MSP partner to ensure smooth resolution • Evaluate and enable new SaaS tools — pilot emerging technologies including AI-powered IT automation • Create documentation and runbooks that reduce operational toil and increase durability • Drive an automation-first culture across the IT function — if it can be automated, it should be
• Build out our detection engineering capability. Design and implement detection logic across our SIEM, EDR, cloud security tools and identity systems. We want you to write detections as code — durable, tested, and version-controlled. • Own security incident response. Lead and support security incident investigations using data analytics, log analysis, and system forensics across corporate and production environments. Build playbooks and runbooks for repeatable response. • Extend detection into the product. Instrument additional application-level telemetry across the WorkOS platform to detect abuse patterns, anomalous authentication activity, and threats that target our customers' identities. • Build tooling and automation. Develop scripts, integrations, and SOAR workflows to automate detection, enrichment, and response activities. We value engineering solutions over manual processes. • Improve visibility and logging. Work with engineering and infrastructure teams to ensure the right logs are collected, normalized, and available. Identify gaps in monitoring coverage and close them. • Partner with our MDR provider. Collaborate to validate detections, tune rules, and coordinate on incidents. Grow our internal capability over time while maintaining the partnership. • Contribute to security operations maturity. Help build on-call rotation practices, tabletop exercises, post-incident reviews, and operational metrics for the security team. • Participate in a shared on-call rotation for security incidents, with occasional evening or weekend availability for critical events.

Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in a security engineering or security-focused software engineering role. - Ability to execute across a wide range of security functions such as security assessments, penetration testing, responsible disclosure, security tooling integration, etc. - Familiarity with and experience using common industry tooling. - Proven ability to identify vulnerabilities in software, demonstrated through CVEs, bug bounty, blog posts, or prior work experience. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in partnering with engineering teams. - Comfortable reading and writing code, and able to effectively leverage AI during the process. - Bonus: Experience in the authentication and identity domain. - Bonus: Experience writing production level code, especially developing security features. • Own specific product areas with full accountability for outcomes — from discovery through delivery and iteration • Talk to customers regularly and synthesize what you learn into clear, prioritized product direction • Partner tightly with engineering and design to move from concept to shipped product quickly • Define success metrics and use them to evaluate whether what you shipped actually worked • Work cross-functionally with marketing, sales, and GTM to bring new features and products to market effectively • Identify 0-to-1 opportunities — things that don't exist yet but should — and drive them from blank page to launch • Make hard prioritization calls with limited information and defend them clearly • Contribute to the broader product strategy and roadmap as the company scales
