Role Description We’re looking for a curious, technically strong, and automation-minded Data Platform Engineer to join our Data Engineering team. This is a high-impact platform engineering role for someone who enjoys building reliable systems, writing maintainable automation, and helping data teams move faster, more safely, and with more confidence. You’ll work at the intersection of data engineering, business intelligence, finance analytics, cloud infrastructure, governance, and AI-enabled decision support. What we’re really hiring for is strong engineering fundamentals, comfort with ambiguity, and the drive to apply those fundamentals across different systems. We’re hiring an engineer who can pick up infrastructure work, governance work, or pipeline work as needed and help turn knowledge that currently lives in repos, configs, and people’s heads into durable platform practices. There will be a lot to learn here, even if you arrive experienced. That’s the appeal, not the catch. What You’ll Do - Keep the data platform healthy: - Monitor infrastructure and pipelines, respond to issues, troubleshoot failures from logs and metrics, and help identify root causes so we can prevent repeat problems. - Make infrastructure changes safely: - Build, review, and deploy infrastructure through code using Terraform, AWS, Kubernetes or container-based deployment patterns, and CI/CD workflows. - Improve automation and tooling: - Write Python, bash, and CI/CD automation that reduces manual toil, improves reliability, and makes common platform tasks safer and easier for the team. - Support access control and governance: - Help design and operate role-based access control, least-privilege access, and governance controls across our cloud, warehouse, and BI platforms. - Contribute to data pipelines: - Build, operate, and troubleshoot pipelines and transformations that power reporting, analytics, finance workflows, and data products across the company. - Support our platform migration: - Help move workloads from our legacy stack to the modern data platform, including validation, cutover, and decommissioning work. - Document how things work: - Write clear runbooks, platform documentation, and operational guides so knowledge is easier to share and the team is less dependent on any one person. - Use and improve AI-assisted engineering: - Work with our Claude Code-based tooling, including agents, skills, hooks, and MCP integrations, and help shape how the team uses AI to improve engineering workflows. Qualifications - 3+ years in data engineering, software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, or a related technical role. - Hands-on experience operating workloads in AWS or another major cloud provider, with a solid grasp of IAM, networking, compute, managed services, deployment patterns, and day-to-day cloud operations. - Proficiency in Python for automation, internal tooling, platform workflows, or data engineering support. - Working knowledge of SQL. Advanced SQL is a plus, but not a prerequisite. - Hands-on experience with Terraform or another infrastructure-as-code tool, including code review, state-aware changes, environment management, and safe deployment practices. - Comfortable using Git-based development workflows, pull requests, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines to ship changes safely. - Good working knowledge of Kubernetes and container-based deployments. You should be comfortable understanding deployments, pods, services, logs, configuration, and common failure modes. Experience with EKS is especially valuable. - Skilled at using logs, metrics, and alerts to investigate failing systems, reason through incomplete information, and identify likely root causes. - Familiarity with RBAC, IAM, least-privilege access, or governance controls in at least one platform — cloud, warehouse, BI, or application-level systems. - Attention to detail, curiosity, good judgment, and genuine eagerness to learn unfamiliar tools and systems. - Experience working with vendor support, production incidents, severity-based escalation, and operational follow-through. - Willingness to participate in on-call and after-hours support as needed. You understand that reliable platforms require thoughtful operations, not just build work. - Clear written communication and the ability to work effectively with engineers, analysts, and data stakeholders in a remote-first team. Benefits - The base salary range for this position is $90,700 - $113,400. Range shown in $CAD for Canadian residents. Other countries will differ. • Serve as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for all employee relations matters — from day-to-day policy questions to complex, sensitive investigations. • Lead and document workplace investigations, ensuring procedural fairness, thorough fact-finding, and timely resolution. • Manage end-to-end terminations — both performance-based and without cause — including drafting termination documentation, calculating entitlements under applicable employment standards, and coordinating with legal counsel as required. • Advise managers on performance improvement plans, disciplinary processes, and progressive discipline, ensuring consistency and compliance across the organization. • Navigate complex employee situations involving conflict, accommodation requests, and sensitive interpersonal matters with discretion and sound judgment. • Proactively identify ER trends and surface recommendations to leadership to address root causes before they escalate. • Administer and coordinate all leaves of absence including medical, parental, disability, and other statutory leaves under applicable Canadian provincial and US state legislation. • Partner with employees, managers, and benefits carriers to ensure seamless leave transitions and return-to-work planning. • Maintain accurate leave tracking and ensure compliance with all applicable employment standards legislation. • Support organizational design and planning initiatives, including workforce restructuring, role realignments, and team changes. • Partner with leaders to develop change management plans that minimize disruption and support employee engagement through transitions. • Provide HR guidance and communication support for organizational announcements and change initiatives. • Support the rollout and administration of company-wide people programs including performance cycles, engagement surveys, and total compensation programs. • Practice AI-augmented work — use tools like Claude to streamline reporting, draft documentation, support project management, and reduce administrative burden so focus stays on high-value HR partnership. • Ensure compliance with Canadian and US labor laws and internal HR policies, and serve as a subject matter expert and resource for managers and employees. • Leverage HR data and analytics to identify workforce trends, surface insights, and recommend improvements to HR processes and programs. • Collaborate with the Talent team on recruitment and onboarding support as needed during peak periods or organizational transitions.

• Partner with engineering leadership to evolve and standardize the foundational architecture for a cloud-native, event-driven telecom platform — identifying areas for improvement and driving safe, incremental modernization alongside active development • Own developer experience: build tooling, CI pipeline performance, dependency management, and inner-source contribution models across a shared monorepo • Govern shared UI component standards and design system practices used across teams • Establish and maintain engineering standards: RFCs, ADRs, architecture reviews • Partner closely with Operations and SRE to define observability standards (tracing, logging, metrics), SLO/SLI frameworks, and reliability practices • Champion AI-first development practices across tooling, workflows, and culture • Manage and develop a small, established team of senior engineers

Role Description Tucows is looking for an experienced treasury professional to step into a high-impact contract role covering a parental leave. This isn't a seat-warming assignment — you'll own the full scope of corporate treasury operations for one of North America's largest internet services companies, operating across multiple business units, currencies, and capital structures. From managing liquidity across a complex global cash position to administering a live Asset-Backed Securitization (ABS) program and supporting active credit facility compliance, this role offers the kind of hands-on, cross-functional scope that's rare in a contract engagement. You'll work directly alongside the CFO and lead a Treasury Analyst, making an immediate and visible contribution from day one. Contract Duration: Fixed-term, approximately 4.5 months What You’ll Do - Cash Management & Liquidity (35%) - Consolidate short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts across all business units, including daily forecasting for the Ting Fiber business - Monitor global cash balances daily and recommend funding and liquidity actions - Analyze forecast variances and collaborate with business controllers to tighten accuracy - Approve wire transfers, ACH payments, and cheque disbursements in line with treasury controls - Serve as the primary contact for bank treasury and payment advisors on electronic banking, lockbox, and payment systems - Funding & Capital Markets (25%) - Administer credit facilities — monitoring cash balances, managing rollover notices, tracking interest and fee accruals, and preparing quarterly covenant compliance packages - Manage daily cash flow activities for the Ting Fiber Asset-Backed Securitization (ABS) program - Maintain ABS stakeholder relationships; prepare and distribute Monthly Noteholder Reports and quarterly financial statements - Support financing transactions including syndicated credit facilities, private placements, and private equity initiatives - Treasury Accounting & Reporting (15%) - Prepare treasury-related journal entries through month-end and quarter-end close, including FX forward contracts, hedge accounting adjustments, derivative mark-to-market valuations, intercompany funding, and ZBA sweeps - Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled in accordance with accounting policy - Banking Relationships (10%) - Support the CFO in managing banking relationships across Canada, the US, and international jurisdictions - Conduct periodic banking reviews covering transaction volumes, cash management services, and pricing - Prepare and maintain KYC, compliance, and banking documentation; coordinate bank guarantee applications - Operations, Automation & Leadership (10%) - Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and oversight to the Treasury Analyst - Support treasury automation and system enhancement initiatives - Coordinate internal and external audit support - Foreign Exchange & Interest Rate Management (5%) - Forecast FX exposures and assist in executing hedging strategies - Maintain complete records of hedging transactions; execute drawdowns on window forward contracts Qualifications - 4+ years of corporate treasury experience, ideally within a complex, multi-entity or multi-currency environment - Hands-on experience with credit facility administration, ABS programs, or capital markets transactions is a strong asset - Strong Excel skills; comfort with treasury management systems and electronic banking platforms - Solid understanding of treasury accounting, hedge accounting, and financial controls - A track record of high accuracy and sound judgment under tight timelines - Strong communicator who can work effectively across finance, operations, and executive stakeholders - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CTP or CPA designation is an asset Requirements - The base salary range for this position is $116,100 - $136,600 CAD. • Translate ambiguous business questions into precise SQL queries against our Snowflake warehouse. Own and deliver recurring financial reporting, reconciliation, and operational analytics with an eye for improving efficiency over time. • Conduct root cause analyses, build forecasting models, and support decision-making through churn analysis, customer segmentation, CLV, A/B testing, and similar techniques. • Build, maintain, and optimize Looker dashboards, Explores, and LookML definitions that provide governed, reliable, self-service analytics. Govern the semantic layer — metrics, dimensions, and business logic — that powers trusted reporting and AI-enabled analytics. Train business users to leverage these tools confidently. • Serve as the primary analytical partner to the Finance team. Own financial reporting, reconciliation, and forecasting workflows. Support SOX audits and ITAC testing, ensuring financial data is accurate, auditable, and well-documented. • Monitor and improve data quality across analytical pipelines, especially for finance-critical datasets. Gather requirements from stakeholders, translate business needs into technical specs, and collaborate with Data and Analytics Engineers to resolve upstream issues.
