About the job The Senior Project Manager will play a key role in supporting new product development & innovation projects within the new Business Transformation Office (BTO). The BTO has a combined focus on strategic projects, innovation projects, and mergers & acquisition projects supporting JMCRS (JAX Mice and Clinical Research Services) as well as JAX organizational growth. This role will contribute proactively to the success of the innovation portfolio by deploying project management professional skills in waterfall planning, agile scrum execution, and other Lean principals. This role will require strong working knowledge of a medical device or life sciences product development processes, drawing from past experience in FDA and ISO 13485 Design Controls in a Stage Gate model. At the same time, a high degree of business acumen is required to drive robust decision making to drive incremental revenue generation via new product launch. This is a traditional matrix management role, with no direct reports, but close ties to the Product Management, R&D, Operations, Quality, and Finance team members. The Senior Project Manager will also be supported by the BTO Resource Manager. Key Responsibilities - Owns the existing Stage-Gate project lifecycle SOP with templates (deliverables) Applies project lifecycle to a portfolio of projects leading to on-time completion. - Presents project status, in partnership with Product Manager, at each Gate Review Meeting to drive project progress and on-time launch. - Elicits project requirements from stakeholders and leads project scoping & chartering to initiate projects. Key Responsibilities (What you contribute) ​: - Design, implement, and maintain improvements to quality management system in accordance with JAX standards and regulatory requirements. - Support important Quality Management System processes, including by not limited to, Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA), Deviations, Document Control, Change Management, Auditing and Supplier Management. - Assist staff in effective management and adherence to compliance standards for various eQMS elements. - Contribute to the enhancement of the overall eQMS, responsibilities including maintenance and administration of eQMS components, creation, review, verification, and approval of system documentation. - Generate and analyze metrics about assigned Quality Management element(s) for leadership. - Identify areas for improvement within the QMS and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. - Assume other projects and duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability. - Assist in the development and implementation of eQMS-related training programs and materials. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in a related field. - Quality Management System: 3-5 years of experience in quality management systems or related roles. - Strong knowledge and experience with ISO 9,001 standards. - Strong experience running CAPA's and deviations. - Certification in quality management (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, ASQ) is a plus. - EtQ Reliance Certification is preferred. - Documentation Standards: Understanding of proper documentation practices and record-keeping. - Project Management: ability to organize, manage and monitor multiple projects to successful completion, adapting to shifting priorities. - Highly organized, process driven with precise attention to detail. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - Skilled at engaging stakeholders effectively at all organizational levels. - Demonstrated team player with a professional approach to collaboration. - Communicates and collaborates effectively with colleagues. - Experience with the following systems strongly desired: SharePoint, Workday, Microsoft Office, InfoEd, EtQ Reliance. - Experience with word-processing, spreadsheets, data analysis, statistical analysis and other computer software to record, analysis and report activities. #CA-DS5 About JAX: The Jackson Laboratory is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institution with a National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center and nearly 3,000 employees in locations across the United States (Maine, Connecticut, California), Japan and China. • Build and maintain accurate financial and operational reports that drive action and improve outcomes. • Communicate monthly the performance of supported areas to senior leaders with clear and actionable metrics that support operational decision making and financial performance improvements. • Lead annual OPEX budgeting and monthly OPEX forecasting for supported areas using clear, actionable metrics that support financial performance and are easy for non-financial stakeholders to understand. • Evaluate strategic expenditures and projects (e.g. CAPEX, R&D, Licensing) with ROI-based analysis, and collaborate across teams to monitor project outcomes. • Lead or support ad hoc financial projects, reports, and strategic initiatives as needed.
