The EHR Interface Engineer role is responsible for the support, development, and implementation of interfaces to/from EMRs such as Epic and Oracle Health with 3rd party applications, other EMRs, and interface engines. Additionally, it includes oversight and implementation of conversion and migration projects from legacy systems and EMRs. Solid candidates for this role will be able to demonstrate self-motivation, individual leadership, and team collaboration, in addition to being excited to mentor and grow a burgeoning Integration Engineering team. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Primary Responsibilities: - Translate business requirements into functional specifications and manage changes to specifications - Prioritize, coordinate, and implement updates and requested changes to the system; review and test each new release; troubleshoot problems and questions from end users - Design and develop clinical and business interfaces in the Epic and/or Oracle Health EMRs according to the project scope and end user workflow with scalability, standard development practices and project constraints in mind - Mentor team members in integration and conversion best practices, and encourage growth and ongoing learning - Provide technical guidance on small to medium efforts within the area of scope with limited supervision - Develop, support, and maintain all required system design and build documents and other system documentation - Create detailed testing scripts for different phases of the testing lifecycle (functional testing, integrated testing, mapped record testing and/or parallel revenue cycle testing) - Perform daily monitoring of interfaces in production - Adhere to organization standards for system configuration and change control - Troubleshoot and/or resolve interface issues and escalate more complex issues as appropriate You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: - Currently or previously certified in Epic Bridges - 5+ years of interface engineering/development experience - 3+ years of experience in the Rhapsody Interface Engine - 3+ years integration experience with an EMR, such as Epic or Oracle Health Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working with common interface engines (e.g. Corepoint, InterSystems, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf) - Experience with team management (informal or formal) and team or project leadership - Epic, Oracle Health, or other EMR application knowledge or application certifications - Proficiency with MS Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint Key Competencies - Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities - In-depth knowledge of EMR functionality and the full implementation lifecycle of an EMR's suite of applications - Teamwork and collaboration. Role Description Lead the technical direction, design, and continuous improvement of PlanHub's email delivery systems, focusing on decoupling service boundaries, event driven architecture, and operational resilience. - Architect and implement cloud-native solutions using AWS services, including building and evolving infrastructure as code with Terraform / OpenTofu and containerized workloads deployed via ECS. - Manage, support, and mentor a team of engineers, promoting sound software architecture, cloud-native practices, observability, and operational excellence. - Champion reliability, scalability, fault tolerance, and observability across the platform, utilizing tools like Datadog for monitoring, alerting, and incident investigation. - Establish patterns for safely and effectively using AI coding agents, such as Claude Code, across design, implementation, debugging, and maintenance to improve developer productivity. - Partner with product and engineering leadership to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions and contribute to roadmap planning. - Partner with application and infrastructure teams across the engineering organization to elevate technical practices, drive architectural consistency, and improve overall engineering maturity. Qualifications - 8+ years of experience in software engineering, backend systems, or platform development. - 3+ years in a technical leadership role (Staff, Principal, Team Lead, or Architect) with experience managing and mentoring engineering teams. - Strong experience and deep understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and integration patterns, with a proven ability to design, deliver, and operate observable, resilient, and scalable production systems. - Deep expertise in relational databases, specifically MySQL, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling. - Experience leading teams working in PHP or similar dynamically-typed backend languages. - Extensive experience with AWS services for compute, storage, messaging, monitoring, and operational reliability. - Experience building and operating containerized applications using orchestration like ECS, and provisioning infrastructure using Terraform and/or OpenTofu. - Proven ability to lead technical decision-making while remaining hands-on with implementation. - Experience using AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to improve software delivery, coupled with strong engineering judgment and quality controls. - Proficiency with modern development workflows and collaboration tools like GitHub and observability platforms such as Datadog. - Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in complex production environments. • Lead technical engagements end-to-end scoping solution architecture in POC workshops, designing and building production-grade systems, and driving the engagement through stabilization to the launch of the first live use case. • Write and ship production code (Python, TypeScript, Node) directly in customer codebases — designing APIs, integrating with existing customer architecture, building proper error handling, observability, and test coverage — working as a hands-on contributor alongside customer engineers, not just an advisor. • Architect solutions that pass customer Infosec, security, and Architecture Review Board (ARB) review, translating security and compliance requirements into concrete implementation decisions around auth, data handling, and infrastructure design. • Lead high-energy customer hackathons and builder activation events at flagship or target Direct accounts to accelerate the adoption of new solutions. • Build and maintain reusable technical assets — reference implementations, starter apps, SDKs, sample repos, and companion engineering guides — that demonstrate sound architecture and become the technical backbone for adoption across accounts. • Partner with Enterprise Architects and Demo Platform Engineering to turn high-level reference architectures into working, deployable code that customer builder teams can extend on their own. • Evangelize Twilio within the B2B builder communities of the target accounts by driving building of net new POCs and demos that bring to life architectures discussed at the C-suite, line of business levels in the sales cycles • Utilize your software engineering expertise to ensure customers’ builder teams develop full understanding of and familiarity with the whole platform capabilities of the solutions being pitched or sold • Work closely with the Demo Platform Engineering and Enterprise Architect teams to ensure C-suite positioning and the higher level reference architectures are properly activated within the builder communities of the target accounts • Synthesize field insights from every production deployment to directly inform R&D of necessary product improvements and feature requirements
