Title: Operational Insights Lead (12 month FTC) Location: London (GB) Workplace: hybrid Category: Operations - fixed Job Description: London (GB) Octopus Electric Vehicles – Operations - fixed / Full-time / Hybrid What we do. Electric Car Leasing Why we do it. Greener. Fairer. Future. The role Customers are at the heart of everything we do at Octopus Electric Vehicles. We are constantly seeking new ways to improve our customer experience, and we are looking for someone to play a pivotal role in shaping how we do that. Our customer journey generates a huge amount of data – from the interactions we have with them (calls, emails, complaints etc.), to the actions we take to get them into the EV of their dreams. This data is currently collected and cleaned in our data platform (managed by our Data Team). We need someone who can help us use that data thoughtfully and effectively to create meaningful, actionable insight on what is really happening for our customers and our teams. Someone who can turn fragmented operational data into meaningful insight. And, most importantly, someone who can help make that insight operational: embedded into how teams work, how leaders make decisions, and how the business improves. This is a role for someone who can move fast, think clearly, operate with precision, and help us turn data into better customer outcomes. London based (minimum 3 days a week in office) and 1 or 2 trips to Brighton a month. What you'll do - Shape our thinking and understanding of customer experience and wider operational performance to support front line staff through to SLT leadership - Create a data-led understanding of what our customers are experiencing and what they are telling us, building a full view of the Voice of the Customer - Help us understand what we should be tracking and measuring to understand our customers (i.e. metric creation) and build reporting to monitor performance - Work with the Director of Operations and Head of Customer Operations to create strategy & implementation plans off the back of CX data, and help us make the right prioritisation calls to address the biggest CX pain points - Create strong stakeholder relationships, across the front line teams, the Data Team, Operations Leadership and the SLT, - Build-on and oversee our headcount forecasting tooling. We will also expect you to scope and get involved in the projects to deliver improvements off the back of the insights work - liaising closely with our teams to make sure that the insight drives meaningful change. We do not just need someone who can say “this is what the data shows”. We need someone who helps us find answers to “what are we going to do differently on Monday?”. What you'll need There is no strict requirement on background, but working in management or strategy consulting, experience in growing scale-ups and performing in roles that sit between data and operations will help. You may have worked in cleantech or fintech. You’ll likely have a project-mindset and an action for getting things done. You will probably have 5-7 years of experience. You’ll have experience with: - Finding meaning in messy data and turning it into a strategy with measurable improvements - Changing requirements and vague briefs - Working with both data teams and frontline operational teams - Communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and adapting your content to the audience - Large datasets to identify key insights - Structuring output ready for senior leadership review - Customer data and insights - SQL, Excel and exploring AI tooling - Overseeing transformational projects and driving change with colleagues You will be working directly with the Director of Operations and you will be expected to be comfortable working at this level of seniority. You’ll probably be great if you: - Care deeply about customers and the people serving them. - Are highly analytical and comfortable working with messy data. - Can use data to find patterns, causes and opportunities. - Understand that insight only matters if it changes decisions or behaviour. - Can turn vague questions into structured analysis. - Can communicate complex findings simply for front-line through to senior leadership audiences. - Are excited by the potential of AI to evolve how we understand customers and operations. - Have strong judgement on what matters and what is noise. - Can work quickly without losing accuracy. - Are comfortable with ambiguity and imperfect systems. - Can work credibly with both data teams and frontline operational teams. - Have the humility to understand the real work before recommending improvements. - Have the drive to turn analysis into operational progress. - Are comfortable using data to influence decisions. Why else you'll love it here - Wondering what the salary for this role is? Just ask us! On a call with one of our recruiters it's something we always cover as we genuinely want to match your experience with the correct salary. Title: Social Media Executive Location: London (GB) Workplace: onsite Category: Marketing & Product Job Description: Octopus Energy is on a mission to make the world's energy fairer, cleaner and better. In nine years we've become the UK's largest energy supplier - but we're not like the rest. Out of 650,000+ reviews, 89% of customers rate us 'Excellent'. We invest billions into renewable generation across Europe, you can talk to our CEO on Twitter, and we work with everyone from Arsenal to Idris Elba to Al Gore. And because we genuinely do right by our customers, stuff like this happens a lot. We want Octopus to be what Ryanair is to budget flights on social: a brand people actually follow, screenshot, and send to their mates. But not for the sake of it. We use social to fight for customers and challenge an energy system that’s historically been stacked against them - ultimately helping make energy cheaper, greener and fairer. You're a generalist who isn’t afraid to do it all: shoot and edit video, make graphics, write copy, crank out memes, react to the internet in real time, and constantly find new angles to make Octopus relevant, funny, and unmissable. You'll pitch ideas, get the green light, and execute before the moment passes. What you'll do.... - Make stuff - lots of it. Video, graphics, memes, written posts - you're comfortable across all of it. From quick reactive TikToks to mini-mockumentaries to energy explainers that don't put people to sleep - you'll turn ideas into content fast, and make it look good. - Be the meme machine. You'll be constantly scanning the internet for moments Octopus can own (trending sounds, viral formats, cultural flashpoints) and turning them around quickly. The best social teams move at the speed of the internet. So do you. - Pitch relentlessly. You won't wait for a brief. You'll come in every week with new ideas - new formats, new angles, new ways to make people care about energy without realising they're caring about energy. - Listen and lurk. You'll live on TikTok, X, Instagram, YouTube - tracking trends, monitoring what people say about Octopus, and finding the moments worth jumping on before they peak. - Support our community. Work closely with our Community Management team, help with the trickier customer situations, and occasionally get involved in shifts yourself. Social is 24/7, and Octopus is famous for its service. - Keep the wheels turning. No long-term content calendars here. With your finger on the pulse, you'll help prioritise output week-to-week to keep things timely, fresh, and worth watching. - Measure what matters. You'll use data to test, learn, and get better - always asking what worked and why What you'll need... - At least 2 years' experience creating content for a brand's social channels (agency or in-house) - Video production and editing skills - this is a big part of the role (Adobe Suite is a plus) - Experience with social listening tools (we use Brandwatch) - Graphic design chops - you can make a meme, a Story, a thumbnail, whatever's needed - A proactive, execution-first mindset: you pitch ideas and you follow through on them - You're chronically online: you personally use social media a lot, you love internet culture, and you get why things go viral - A genuine understanding of people - how they think, what they share, and why - T-shaped: you're adaptable and happy to have a crack at everything - A genuine passion for making a big green dent in the universe This is mainly an office-based role at our London HQ in Oxford Circus - 4 days a week for the first 6 months, then a minimum of 3 days after that. Social media doesn't follow office hours, and neither do we. If you prefer flexible working over a strict 9-to-5, you'll fit right in. 💚 Why else you'll love it here 💚 • 💰 Wondering what the salary for this role is? Just ask us! Title: Always on the lookout for Brilliant Humans - Power Market Edition! Location: Worldwide Workplace: Remote, Full Time Category: Energy Trading Job Description: We are looking for great people to join our power trading business, but there's probably a few things you should know first... We don’t do things the traditional way. Not in trading, not anywhere really. There’s no big hierarchy, no layers of sign-off, no hiding behind process. We’ve built our own tech, we make our own decisions, and we move quickly because we can. As a company, we are always learning - innovation means constant evolution and change - and as an exciting result, we are looking for experienced team members across the globe with incredible experience in power trading businesses looking for their next move! Are you an experienced professional with experience in Power Trading businesses looking for a new, exciting and start-up role to develop in? At Octopus Energy Trading, we’re on a mission to reshape the future of energy. As part of Octopus Energy Group, we’re creating an innovative approach to trading that will accelerate the transition to a Net Zero world. With the growth of renewables and a push toward decarbonising heating and transport, greater flexibility in the grid is essential. We are building cutting-edge technology to optimise everything from domestic EV charging to grid-scale batteries, to meet the global demand for energy flexibility. We’re looking for passionate and unconventional thinkers to join us on this journey, bringing a diversity of experience and ideas to shape a more efficient, flexible, and sustainable energy system. You might be used to places where trading sits in a box. It doesn’t here. We work closely with the people building the tech, the people talking to customers, the people shaping the future of the business. It means you see more, influence more, and yes, occasionally deal with a bit more chaos too. We’re pretty obsessive. About the market, about the detail, about how things actually work in the real world. We think about the system a lot. A lot, a lot. How energy flows, where it breaks, how it could be better. And then we try to fix it. Please register your interest in a role with Octopus Energy Trading and let us know what unique experience you could bring! A bit more about a role in Octopus Energy Trading... Where do we operate? Originally focusing on the GB market and now expanding into Europe and Asia, we are now looking to take our experience to new countries so would love to here from you, wherever you are in the world! What do we look for? We’re looking for people with awesome experience in the power trading world, someone who can talk through the numbers, the risk, the strategy. But actually, what really matters is how you think. You’re curious. You don’t just accept how things are done. You’ll question it, pull it apart, rebuild it better. You’re a grafter, but a smart one. You know where effort matters and where it doesn’t. You won’t spend hours polishing something no one needs. And yes, writing a long meeting agenda might drain you slightly. You take ownership. Proper ownership. Not “that’s not my job”, more “I’ll figure it out”. Because here, you kind of have to. Our Traders... Our Traders develop transformational solutions and rapidly implement these to meet the urgent and global need for energy flexibility. You’ll be responsible for creating value from Power markets, trading the volatility, and managing our exposure. You’ll also work on the high-level trading approach, supporting in the evolving design and improvement of our in-house analytical tools. Our Data Team... With an increase in variable and distributed supply, using data for trading and forecasting has never been more important. Octopus has always had a tech-first approach, and our trading and analytics tools are all built in-house. We look for experts in building data pipelines bringing together internal and external data to create market leading insights using both classical and ML techniques. This includes looking at demand, renewables and transmission system fundamentals forecasts focussed to begin with on the GB intraday power market
