The SIS will interact with customers as a primary representative for Journal Technologies and coordinate and complete various activities in the configuration process. The Software Implementation Specialist will be a standing expert on Journal Technologies’ product offerings, our internal implementation processes, and the customer’s business processes. - Configure and customize case management software by designing and implementing forms (screens), searches, user permissions, and workflow steps to meet client requirements. - Develop, extend, and optimize business rules within the software using Groovy and Velocity. - Support and enhance data conversion and integration activities by: - Analyzing client data specifications and performing data mapping to system requirements. - Reviewing and validating data conversion files for accuracy and integrity. - Designing and executing validation processes to ensure data quality. - Identifying, escalating, and recommending solutions for discrepancies or errors. - Contribute to document and report development by: - Analyzing client reporting and document requirements. - Drafting technical specifications and assisting in the design and development of reports using Jasper, Crystal Reports, or Microsoft SQL Reporting Services. - Gathering requirements and participating in document template development (e.g., eSeries templates, JDA). - Provide technical training and support by: - Assisting in conducting administrative and end-user training sessions (on-site or online). - Delivering advanced technical support during go-live events, including troubleshooting system-level issues and submitting bug tickets when defects are identified. - Design, execute, and optimize test plans based on configuration and customization tasks, including unit testing and end-to-end testing of integrated workflows. - Troubleshoot system issues by interpreting server and application logs, diagnosing root causes, applying technical judgment to resolve issues, and escalating when appropriate. - Contribute to solution optimization by identifying opportunities for efficiency, scalability, and maintainability in implemented configurations and customizations. - Establish and reinforce best practices for configuration, coding standards, and system testing. - Collaborate with cross-functional project teams including project managers, implementation specialists, and developers. - Ensure compliance with workflows, standards, and security requirements. - Continue developing technical expertise in databases, reporting tools, system configuration, and scripting languages through training and mentorship. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience, and knowledge of project management principles. - 9+ years of professional, full-time experience working with relational databases, preferably T-SQL or PL/SQL. - Demonstrated experience as an Implementation Specialist or in a software deployment/systems integration role. - Proven ability as an analytical thinker, capable of evaluating complex problems. - Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical audiences, peers, and clients. - Proven experience as an Implementation Specialist, preferably within a similar environment. - Proven ability to maintain focus and work effectively with multiple demands. - Knowledgeable on most: Microsoft SQL database or Oracle database, report software such as Jasper or Crystal Reports, Microsoft SQL reporting services, Java, Groovy, and Velocity. - Ability to demonstrate learning agility and critical thinking skills. - Strong client relationship skills. - Ability to work as part of a team to accomplish tasks. - Must be able to recognize basic procedural issues as they arise, then escalate appropriately. - The ability to learn and apply basic concepts in new situations. - Proficiency in the latest web technologies and working knowledge of various operating systems. - Excellent analytical skills and time management skills. - Top-notch interpersonal abilities. - Affinity for multitasking with precision.
