Improve & Optimize Existing Products - Continuously improve current formulations to enhance taste, mouthfeel, onset time, bioavailability, and shelf stability. - Identify cost optimization opportunities without compromising product quality. - Prevent production issues and ensure rigorous adherence to best-in-class manufacturing standards Consumer Insights & Competitive Landscape - Analyze consumer feedback, reviews, and behavioral data to inform product improvements and new product concepts. - Track competitive products across beverages, alcohol, functional drinks, and other beverage categories. - Translate insights into clear product opportunities in our innovation pipeline. Formulation, Quality & Compliance - Ensure all products meet potency, safety, and quality standards. - Own shelf-life testing, stability programs, and formulation documentation. - Partner with Compliance to ensure regulatory alignment across markets. Vendor & Manufacturing Management - Manage relationships with co-manufacturers, labs, ingredient suppliers, and flavor houses. - Source and evaluate new ingredients, technologies, and partners. - Manage production runs, tech transfers, and ongoing manufacturer performance. - Ensure partners meet quality, cost, and timeline expectations. Commercialization & Cross-Functional Execution - Partner with Supply Chain, Sales, and Marketing to bring new products to market successfully. - Support forecasting, inventory planning, and launch readiness. - Contribute to packaging, pricing, and positioning decisions. - Ensure products are built for real-world distribution, including DSD and retail environments. Build the Foundation - Create repeatable R&D processes, documentation, and SOPs. - Establish formulation standards and testing protocols. - Help define what “best-in-class” beverage quality looks like at Mood and raise the bar over time. What You’ll Bring - 5-10+ years of hands-on beverage R&D or product development experience. - Strong formulation experience (emulsions, flavor systems, functional ingredients, or similar). - Experience taking products from concept to commercial production. - Experience working with co-manufacturers and scaling formulations. - Strong understanding of shelf stability, QA, and product performance. - Experience in regulated categories (THC, cannabis, alcohol, supplements, etc.) preferred. - Ability to operate both strategically and tactically without support infrastructure. - High ownership mentality with a bias toward action and execution. - Strong problem-solving skills and comfort troubleshooting in real time. - Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field preferred. What’s in It for You - High ownership over a critical and fast-growing product category. - Ability to directly shape Mood’s beverage portfolio and product quality. - Fast-moving environment with real impact and minimal bureaucracy. - Competitive compensation and benefits. Role Description We are seeking a highly analytical and execution-oriented Performance Marketing Manager, Creative Testing to build and operate a robust, data-driven creative testing engine across our paid acquisition channels. This is not a role for a passive observer or creative operations lead; to succeed in this role, you need to be a self-driven 'insight hunter' who possesses the high-level ownership required to turn raw data into a scalable competitive advantage. In this role, you will translate performance data into clear hypotheses, testing plans, and creative direction. You will partner closely with media buying and creative teams and go beyond surface-level metrics (CTR, CPA) to uncover the 'why' behind performance, building a robust and scalable pipeline that ensures our paid acquisition is fueled by deep consumer psychology and rigorous experimentation. This role is ideal for someone with a primarily media buying, performance marketing, or growth marketing background who understands how to turn customer data into a scalable creative testing engine. Key Responsibilities - Deep In-Channel and Cross-Channel Analytical Rigor - Granular Performance Audits: Conduct deep-dive analyses of ad-level performance within and across Meta, Google (YouTube), Applovin, and other channels; moving past standard metrics to identify non-obvious patterns in ad engagement rates, performance, attribution, and audience/persona behavior. - Hypothesis development: Translate performance metrics such as hook rate, CTR, CPA, LTV, and ROAS into actionable creative iterations and testing strategies. Isolate individual components of an ad to inform follow-up tests. - Insight Hunting: Proactively dive into specific data sets to uncover insights “beyond the surface,” such as how specific creative angles interact with different audience segments or how creative fatigue varies by format. - Statistical Integrity & Synthesis of Complex Data: Apply the necessary statistical analysis to ensure creative tests are statistically significant and that learnings are truly repeatable. Connect the dots between creative performance, website conversion, and customer retention to inform a holistic acquisition strategy. - Building a Scalable Testing Pipeline - Hands-on Planning & Creative Strategy: Develop clear, testable creative briefs rooted in data rather than subjective opinion or one-off ideas. Structure experiments to iterate on winning concepts and systematically test new hypotheses. - Systems Building: Move beyond maintaining a roadmap to building a robust, scalable creative testing architecture that can handle a high volume of assets without losing quality or strategic focus. - AI-Driven Scaling: Leverage AI tools and LLMs to scale creative and analytical processes. You will be responsible for writing, testing, and reviewing LLM prompts to ensure output consistency, brand alignment, and compliance. - Workflow Optimization: Continuously iterate on internal workflows to remove bottlenecks, ensuring the testing pipeline moves faster and more efficiently as we scale. Partner with stakeholders to ensure testing priorities align with acquisition goals and channel performance. - Strategic Leadership & Ownership - End-to-End Accountability: Take 100% ownership of the creative testing flow, from initial hypothesis and briefing to launch, readout, and the subsequent iteration. Lead creative performance reviews grounded in objective results, clear learnings, and next-step recommendations. - Decision-Making & Strategy: Lead the creative strategy function, making high-stakes decisions on budget allocation and creative direction based on performance data. Lead relationships with external agencies and the buildout of Mood's internal creative function. - Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with media buyers and creative teams to foster a culture of high accountability, acting as a leader for high-performing marketing managers and creative staff. Qualifications - 6+ years of experience in performance marketing, paid media, growth marketing, or a similar acquisition-focused role, with recent hands-on experience managing Meta ads and other paid channels. - Proven track record at a decision-making level; you have built or led a strategy function, or successfully led a team of high-performing marketing managers. - Demonstrable ability to deconstruct ad creative and campaign structures into actionable data points. - Dedicated focus on rigorous testing methodologies and experience managing complex, multi-variable testing roadmaps. - High levels of proactiveness and curiosity, actively seeking and investigating opportunities to improve performance. - Hands-on experience managing or working closely with paid social campaigns, especially Meta. - Strong cross-functional communication; ability to translate performance data into executive summaries, in-depth analysis, and creative direction. - High comfort level using AI tools to scale processes. Bonus Points - Experience scaling creative testing within a high-growth DTC brand. - Experience writing and reviewing LLM prompts to ensure consistency and compliance. - Prior experience developing ads for a brand in a highly regulated industry. - Familiarity with creative analysis frameworks, ad account reporting, and experimentation systems. - Direct leadership of creative teams: designers, editors, creators, or external agencies. Legal Disclaimers Mood is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, national origin, genetic information, veteran status, or any other protected category under applicable law.
