Confirm pieces, weight, and dimensions of all shipments. - Verify site contact details and keep local offices apprised of details, costs, ETAs and Exceptions. - Make pre-calls to pick up or delivery location personnel to confirm schedule, notify of, or receive, changes and or updates pre pickup and/or pre delivery, to discuss site surveys, convey order updates and receive final instructions. - Be an escalation point for transportation vendors and customers. Document operational issues/exceptions with carriers/agents in real time to ensure minimal disruption to client services. - Ensure proper BOL notation of Overage, shortage or damage (OS&D) exceptions and gather all necessary data for the filing of freight claims. - Verify transportation quotes are in line with vendor rate agreements/tariffs. - Negotiate spot rates when needed with transportation vendors within a predefined limit and monitor compliance with service level agreements. - Ensure all transportation vendor invoices are supported by hard copy POD (Proof of Delivery). - Responsible for following documents control processes and procedures to retain BOLs, PODs, Pre shipment digital photos of freight, Loaded digital photos of freight, and digital photos of freight upon delivery to site. - Identify areas for process improvement and recommend streamlined logistics procedures to enhance operational efficiency. - Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to logistics and supply chain management in the AV equipment industry. - Other duties assigned as assigned by Manager, Logistics and Management. This engineering role will provide additional details about how a design approach will be built and configured to uphold the vision of the XTG pre-sales team and our growing network of creative partners. WHAT YOU’LL DO XTG Senior Design Engineers transforms customer needs into actionable solutions through system design and detailed documentation. You will work closely with sales team members, including Account Managers, to understand client requirements, identify potential risks and communicate with stakeholders. The Senior Design Engineer is a highly skilled technical leader responsible for driving the successful creation of complex Enterprise Broadcast system designs. In this role, you will leverage deep expertise and specialized knowledge to tackle the most challenging design projects, ensuring solutions are innovative, feasible, and aligned with customer needs and business goals. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will act as a mentor and technical guide, providing oversight and support to junior and mid-level engineers. You will work independently on the most complex designs, take ownership of design accuracy, and provide critical input to project stakeholders. This role requires a proactive problem solver who adeptly balances customer expectations with technical and business requirements, all while shaping and improving design standards and processes across the team. Day-To-Day Responsibilities: Pre-Sales Design and Proposal Efforts - Leverage in-depth knowledge of the audio-visual industry and business practices to support Account Managers in strategically selling large projects. - Demonstrate technical and industry expertise, address complex customer challenges, and inspire confidence in the company’s ability to deliver solutions. - Provide accurate labor estimates and material requirements to support sales proposal creation. - Develop and maintain comprehensive design standards packages for large and repeat customers accounts. Design Responsibilities - Develop detailed system documentation, including a bill of materials, conceptual block diagrams, infrastructure plans, and scopes of work to ensure quality and completeness. - Determine infrastructure requirements, such as power, data, and conduit, during pre-sales efforts and coordinate with general contractors. - Identify, account for, and communicate about project risks, site conditions, scheduling requirements, and dependencies in the design. - Review pre-construction documentation to ensure clarity and alignment with project objectives. - Coordinate with vendors, architects, consultants and contractors to align designs with project constraints during design development. - Review and validate designs from junior Engineers and guide on adherence to best-practices. Project Responsibilities - Support project teams during implementation and provide technical input as the “design authority” as needed. - Support of meetings outside of local time zones is required (approximately 20 times per year). - Travel to various job sites both domestic and internationally as needed. - Provide weekly project updates to XTG Engineering Manager. Mentorship, Leadership and Collaboration - Review and provide constructive feedback on designs from junior and mid-level engineers to ensure quality and consistency. - Share knowledge and best practices to support the development of the engineering team’s skills and processes. - Preform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed to support the team and organization, ensureing flexibility in adapting to evolving priorities and objectives. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Must-Haves: Core Competencies and Skills - Strong business acumen and understanding of broadcast and audio-visual industry, including trends, standards, and customer expectations. - Leadership capabilities, including mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers. - Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to independently address risks effectively. - Effective Stakeholder Communication: Experience conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including clients, project managers, and field teams. - Detail-Oriented: knows the difference between “good enough” and “perfect” and strives for accuracy in work. - Self-directed learning habits to stay current with emerging broadcast and AV technologies, industry standards, and best practices through ongoing education or certifications. Technical Expertise and Knowledge - Proficiency in design and configuration of broadcast and AV systems flow, from acquisition to transmission, including software tools and standards. - Comprehensive understanding of IP networking, including AVoIP, TCP/IP, multicast, VLANs, and Quality of Service (QoS) and network architecture. - Experience with SMPTE 2110, AES67, and other Audio/Video over IP (IPMX, DNI, and AVoIP) standards. - Familiarity with AV/IT industry standards such as AVIXA, ANSI/TIA. - Proficiency with tools such as CAD (e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu). - Full understanding of common infrastructure requirements, including power, data, and conduit, and how they integrate into broadcast and AV systems. - AVIXIA CTS-D Certification. - AVIXA ANP (Audio-Visual Network Professional) Certification (Cisco CCNA or similar may be considered in lieu of ANP). - Relevant audio/DSP certifications (Biamp, Q-SYS, BSS, Extron, Shure, etc.). - Valid driver’s license and a motor vehicle record meeting company standards. - Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Nice-To-Haves: - Formal education in Electronics, Engineering, or a related field preferred. - Seven (7) years of experience in broadcast and audiovisual system design or integration. - Direct experience using Enterprise Broadcast and VC solutions (Ross Video, Grass Valley, Evertz, VIZRT, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Cisco Webex/Telepresence)-both hardware and software. - Experience with large-scale or enterprise-level AV projects, including coordination with multi-disciplinary teams. - Proven track record of contributing to process improvements, developing design standards, or leading initiatives in design workflows.
