Role Description We are seeking a Senior Manager of Platform Engineering to lead two critical teams based in Ireland: Platform Developer Enablement and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). Reporting to the VP of Platform Engineering, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our cloud infrastructure, driving our transition toward greater platform maturity. You will bridge the gap between high-level strategy and day-to-day execution, ensuring our systems are scalable, reliable, and developer-friendly. Having standardized our technology stack, we are now entering a new phase of maturity focused on developer self-service, extreme reliability, and advanced observability. Key Focus Areas - Unified Platform Strategy: Lead the strategic evolution of both the Platform Engineering and SRE teams to foster a culture of shared ownership and operational excellence. - Internal Developer Platform (IDP): Drive the development of internal platform services that allow product teams to self-service infrastructure needs, reducing friction and increasing velocity. - Reliability & SRE: Lead the team to achieve an internal SLO of 99.999% while establishing clear incident management processes and training Incident Commanders. - Process & Standardization: Create clear, repeatable operational processes and documentation that ensure clarity and efficiency across the team and stakeholders. - Observability 2.0: Implement a company-wide standard for observability based on OpenTelemetry instrumentation. Responsibilities - Leadership & Strategy: - Lead, inspire, and manage two teams (Platform Developer Enablement & SRE), fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. - Set clear goals, hire and develop top talent, and mentor engineering managers to build a high-performing organization. - Define the platform roadmap, aligning technical investments with business objectives and the broader technology strategy. - Champion DevOps principles, automation, and infrastructure-as-code best practices across the organization. - Platform Development & Operations: - Oversee the design and operation of the platform to meet the needs of product teams and internal stakeholders. - Drive architectural evolution to ensure the platform remains scalable, resilient, and secure. - Establish and maintain rigorous SLOs, ensuring system performance aligns with business requirements. - Implement advanced observability, monitoring, and logging frameworks to proactively address potential issues. - Collaboration & Communication: - Partner with product management, security, and other engineering leaders to translate business needs into scalable platform capabilities. - Act as a key stakeholder in cross-functional planning, communicating technical risks and architectural trade-offs to both technical and non-technical leadership. - Ensure the platform team acts as an enabler for product teams, promoting design patterns that balance velocity, reliability and security from the start. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. - 5+ years of senior-level experience as a Software Engineer, SRE, and/or Platform Engineer. - 5+ years of management experience, with proven success leading and coaching other managers. - Deep experience running SaaS products in cloud environments (AWS preferred). - Strong technical background with Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitOps, ArgoCD). - Programming skills (Go, Java, or similar) to provide technical guidance and conduct code reviews. - Expertise in distributed systems design and architecture patterns. - Advanced knowledge of observability practices, specifically OpenTelemetry. - Familiarity with database technologies (MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB) and data streaming/processing (Kafka, Redis). - Excellent communication skills, capable of bridging the gap between technical execution and business strategy. Benefits - Competitive salaries & Bonus Plan (for eligible roles) and Equity Plan - Modern Health for financial, mental, and physical wellness - 401(k) Retirement Plan & Match (US Offices) and Local Country Pension (International Offices) - Unlimited Vacation and Flexible hours - Comprehensive medical benefits for you and your family ❤️ - Emotional & Physical Wellness – Access to wellness services (EAP & Prove Well-Being Reimbursement) - Bottomless snacks & beverages for certain office locations - Daily GrubHub stipend for lunch if coming into the office (US Offices) - A great place to work and connect with other talented Provers like yourself!
