Job Description

Software Engineer (m/f/x) - Feature Management

Dynatrace

Your role at Dynatrace We're shipping a brand-new Feature Management product to Dynatrace customers for the first time, taking the best of the internal feature flagging system, DevCycle, and OpenFeature and bringing them together into one product on the Dynatrace platform. We're looking for engineers who want real ownership over a product being built from the ground up. We're a team of former DevCycle and Dynatrace engineers moving fast, shipping across the full product surface: the application and API service, our Cloudflare Workers and CDN edge, the OpenFeature SDKs and providers, the evaluation pipeline, and our integrations. If you want to work close to the metal on developer-facing software with real end-to-end ownership, this is a great place to do it. A core pillar of how we build is **Open**: the product is built on OpenFeature standards, and we're an active contributor and maintainer in the OpenFeature open-source community, with SDKs and providers used well beyond Dynatrace. This is a significant and visible part of the work, and a strong fit for someone who cares about open standards and developer experience, and who wants their work to be visible outside the company as well as inside it. Where this is all heading: making feature flags first-class citizens of the agentic software delivery lifecycle, observable, governable, and safe from the moment code ships to the moment features are released and measured. What you'd work on - Build and maintain product across the Feature Management stack: the application and API service, Cloudflare Workers and CDN distribution, the OpenFeature SDKs and providers, the evaluation pipeline, and integrations. Engineers are expected to work across this surface over time, coordinating with the relevant domain tech lead on architecture and scoping. - Contribute to our OpenFeature ecosystem across server and client providers. - Contribute upstream to the OpenFeature ecosystem (OpenFeature SDKs, OFREP protocol, flagd, etc.) and represent Dynatrace well in a vendor-neutral open-source community. - Drive technical decisions in your area, participate in internal and open-source architecture and scoping reviews, code reviews, testing, and debugging, and take production ownership of what you ship, using Dynatrace to monitor and improve it. What will help you succeed - Strong hands-on software engineering experience, ideally building and operating Java services and applications inside Dynatrace, with the ability and willingness to pick up other languages we use. - Familiarity with how Dynatrace builds and ships internally: our Java stack, CI/CD and release processes, and running services in production on the platform. - Clear written communication and the ability to work effectively with a distributed, cross-functional team. - Comfort working in the open: contributing to an open-source community, taking feedback publicly, and holding a high bar while moving fast. - Demonstrated proficiency with AI-powered tools, with an eagerness to test new AI tools where they improve engineering workflows. Nice to have - Experience building and maintaining libraries, SDKs, services, or developer-facing APIs, with a strong sense for ergonomics and developer experience. - Experience with OpenFeature, flagd, OFREP, or feature flagging / experimentation systems. - A track record of open-source contribution or maintainership, especially in a vendor-neutral or standards setting (CNCF or similar). - Background in observability, APM, or progressive delivery, and familiarity with how the broader Dynatrace platform fits together. Who you are You think about the developer on the other side of the API. You care whether what you ship is correct, predictable, and pleasant to integrate, not just whether it passes its own tests. You're comfortable moving across languages and codebases, you take ownership, and you understand what breaks in production. You can work in the open, take feedback from a community, and hold a high bar while still moving fast. Why you will love being a Dynatracer -A one-product software company creating real value for the largest enterprises and millions of end customers globally, striving for a world where software works perfectly. -Working with the latest technologies and at the forefront of innovation in tech on scale; but also, in other areas like marketing, design, or research. -A team that thinks outside the box, welcomes unconventional ideas, and pushes boundaries. -An environment that fosters innovation, enables creative collaboration, and allows you to grow. -A globally unique and tailor-made career development program recognizing your potential, promoting your strengths, and supporting you in achieving your career goals. -A truly international mindset that is being shaped by the diverse personalities, expertise, and backgrounds of our global team. -A relocation team that is eager to help you start your journey to a new country, always there to support and by your side. -Attractive compensation packages and stock purchase options with numerous benefits and advantages. Compensation and Rewards -We offer attractive compensation packages and stock purchase options with numerous benefits and advantages. -Due to legal reasons, we are obliged to list a salary range for this position, which is €53,000 up to €66,000 gross per year based on full-time employment (38.5 h/week). We’ve listed the salary range for transparency, but if your experience and skills bring unique value, we’d still love to hear from you—please apply even if you’re outside the range. Equal Employment Opportunity Dynatrace provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. We actively foster an inclusive workplace that celebrates differences and promotes accessibility, collaboration, and growth for all.
