GTM Engineer

Gong.io

Gong.io is on a mission to help revenue and sales teams realize their full potential by unveiling customer reality through its patented, AI-powered revenue inte

Role Description We’re hiring a GTM Engineer to design, build, and own the automations, AI agents, and internal tools that power Gong’s go-to-market organization. GTM engineering is an emerging discipline: builders embedded in the revenue organization who combine AI, code, and automation platforms to ship systems that help acquire, convert, and grow customers. You’ll join the GTM Automations & Data team within Revenue Operations and help define how this discipline scales at Gong. You’ll ship production automations and applications across Sales, SDR, Customer Success, and Partnerships, including: - Prospecting intelligence - Account signals - Pipeline governance - Renewals - Expansion We operate like a small product engineering team, with short sprints, clear instrumentation, and ownership after launch. We measure success through business outcomes such as: - Pipeline created - Conversion improved - Retention and expansion - Seller productivity This role also plays a key part in our Gong-on-Gong / Customer Zero initiative. We use Gong's own AI platform internally as a proving ground for new agentic workflows and revenue infrastructure, and what we learn shapes what ships to customers. Responsibilities - AI & Agentic Workflows: - Design, build, and deploy AI-powered workflows and agents across the GTM lifecycle, including prospecting intelligence, account research, signal monitoring, pipeline management, and renewal and expansion plays. - Evolve our automation portfolio intelligently from deterministic rules toward agentic logic, with the guardrails, audit trails, and human review steps that revenue-critical work demands. - Translate ambiguous operational problems into scoped, shippable builds. - Automation & Integration Engineering: - Build and scale production automations across the revenue stack using platforms such as Workato, plus custom code where platforms run out of road. - Own reliability for what you ship through observability, retries, alerting, safe failure paths, and human review where appropriate. - Build the workflows that keep the revenue engine running: lead routing and lifecycle management, enrichment orchestration, territory and account ownership, pipeline governance. - Internal Apps & Tooling: - Design and ship internal applications using AI-native development tools and modern web stacks, reducing reliance on fragmented point solutions. - Inform build-vs-buy decisions with working prototypes rather than slide decks. - Customer Zero: - Build using Gong's own platform, including conversation data, signals, trackers, and workflows, using our products internally to develop new AI capabilities. - Prototype automation patterns that shape how modern revenue teams operate, and feed what we learn back to Gong's product teams. - Instrumentation & Impact: - Ship every build with performance tracking, so adoption and impact are clearly visible. - Measure your work in business outcomes such as ops-sourced pipeline, conversion lift, and rep productivity, and iterate against what the data says. - GTM Partnership: - Embed with Sales, SDR, Customer Success, and Marketing stakeholders, and pressure-test builds in the field through rep ride-alongs and Gong call listening. - Document what you build and communicate changes clearly to the teams that depend on them. Qualifications - 2+ years building automations, internal tools, or production software. GTM engineering, RevOps, growth ops, and software engineering backgrounds all work; what matters is that you have shipped. - Builds with code (required): You build and ship working software (Python, TypeScript, or similar). AI coding tools like Claude Code and Codex count fully; we care that you ship and understand what you shipped, not whether every line was written by hand. You are fluent with APIs and webhooks, use version control by default, and can show us things you have built, at work or on your own. Deeper technical fluency is a plus, not the bar. - AI-native: You use LLMs and AI coding tools regularly to ship real business workflows. You understand prompting, evaluation, tool use, and failure modes, and you can explain when AI is and is not the right solution. - Automation & GTM stack fluency: Experience with automation platforms (Workato, Zapier, n8n, or similar) and familiarity with the modern GTM stack (Salesforce, Clay, Snowflake, dbt, Gong). - Commercial instinct: You understand how a revenue organization works, you prioritize by business impact, and you are comfortable working directly with sellers and GTM leaders. - Craft: You build things that do not break. Fallback logic, monitoring, and documentation are defaults, not afterthoughts. - Builder mindset: Curious and experimental, biased toward working prototypes over decks, with strong async writing. Benefits - We offer Gongsters a variety of medical, dental, and vision plans, designed to fit you and your family’s needs. - Wellbeing Fund - flexible wellness stipend to support a healthy lifestyle. - Mental Health benefits with covered therapy and coaching. - 401(k) program to help you invest in your future. - Education & learning stipend for personal growth and development. - Flexible vacation time to promote a healthy work-life blend. - Paid parental leave to support you and your family. - Company-wide recharge days each quarter. - Work from home stipend to help you succeed in a remote environment.
