Senior AVD/VDI Cloud Engineer

Role Description This position is full time remote and requires the candidate to hold an active secret clearance. Accelera Solutions is looking for a Senior Azure Virtual Desktop VDI Engineer to support our customer in providing a common set of required EIT services across 187 bases to implement a consistent, high-quality experience for users across all mission environments, enabling USAF to transition focus from network operations to mission operations. As a AVD/VDI Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for: - Architecting, planning, implementing, and supporting desktop virtualization technology. - Building and maintaining the core Azure and AVD resources and the supporting base OS images. - Establishing and implementing best practice configurations that optimize the virtual infrastructure, network, storage, and overall environment. - Working in a team environment, providing solutions to technical issues related to cloud networking, computing, and security. - Troubleshooting and resolving problems, performing core Azure resource, VM, and Windows OS maintenance and operations. - Documenting and communicating technical information to clients. - Collaborating with other team members to develop and implement new solutions. - Understanding requirements, priorities, and objectives to ensure work supports the larger capabilities and direction of the overall solution. - Participating in Planning, Backlog refinement and prioritization, and Retrospectives. - Participating in the full life cycle of activities including deployment and validation efforts to ensure product success. Qualifications - US Citizenship required. - Current certification for Security+, CISSP, CCNA, or CCNP. - Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and successfully obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance. - Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 7+ years direct experience in cloud networking or a related role, preferably in a large-scale cloud environment (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP). Additional five years of direct experience can be substituted for Bachelor’s Degree. - 7+ years’ experience with Virtual Desktop capabilities: Azure Virtual Desktop/AVD (preferred), VMware Horizon, or Citrix DAAS. - 5+ years’ experience in Windows Zero Touch Installation (ZTI) build including scripted OS build, imaging, application package scripted install, and deployment to endpoints. - 5+ years’ experience configuring, securing, supporting, and understanding Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS), in both Windows OS and in Azure Cloud. - 5+ years’ experience setting up and managing cloud infrastructure, preferably Azure subscription resources, Windows virtualization, virtual networking, and virtual storage. - Strong Windows Operating System installation, administration and support experience and abilities. - Strong documentation skills including design, implementation and operational processes, and user guides. - Experience with securing systems by following STIGs, best practices, and government/compliance requirements (such as NIST 800-53, FISMA, FEDRAMP). - 5+ years’ hands-on experience designing and creating PowerShell scripts. - Azure certification required within 6 months of hire. - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients. - Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and work well under pressure. Requirements - Architecture Design: Design and architect AVD/VDI solutions that align with the organization's goals and requirements. - Security: Implement and maintain security best practices for AVD/VDI. - Performance Optimization: Monitor AVD/VDI performance, identify potential issues, and recommend and implement solutions. - Automation: Develop and maintain automation scripts, templates, and runbooks to streamline provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes. - Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, DevOps engineers, and system administrators, to support application development and deployment. - Documentation: Create and maintain documentation of architectures/designs, configurations, operational procedures, and user processes. - Ownership: Work with minimal supervision, define and manage individual tasks, and communicate across internal teams. Desired Skills - One of the following certifications: Azure DevOps Engineering Expert, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate. - Experience integrating, securing, and understanding Microsoft platform services: Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS), Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS), Windows AD-integrated PKI, Single Sign On (SSO) implementation. - Experience with Endpoint policy controls via AD Group Policy Object and Intune. - Terraform deployments. - Windows Smartcard authentication. - Entra ID Tenants and Microsoft365. - MSIX application packaging.
