Role Description The IBM Power i Operations Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operational management, monitoring, and support of IBM i (iSeries) environments within Pellera’s Managed Infrastructure Services portfolio. This role operates in a 24x7x365 managed services delivery model and is accountable for maintaining system stability, performance, availability, and adherence to customer SLAs. - Provide 24x7x365 operational support for IBM Power i systems - Work in ticketing system to accept and resolve customer IBM i Operational tickets - Experience with using monitoring or automation tools like Halcyon - Monitor system health, performance, and availability - Execute incident management and troubleshooting activities - Perform event management and service request fulfillment - Administer backup and recovery operations - Monitor PTF update progress - Manage Job Scheduler and Job Queue Tasks - Monitor and respond to system message queues - Support HA/DR replication tools such as MIMIX, Itera, and QED - Participate in DR testing exercises - Integrate with customer ticketing systems and service desks - Document operational procedures and runbooks - Create work instructions for future team use - MIMIX, Itera, and/or QEDD administrative experience Qualifications - IBM i (iSeries / OS/400) experience - HA/DR technologies (MIMIX, QEDD) - IBM i Access client Solutions experience - IBM i BRMS experience including physical and virtual tape libraries - Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly document issues and communicate with technical and non-technical users - ITIL process knowledge - Strong troubleshooting skills - Ability to work in 24x7 environments Requirements - 3–7+ years IBM Power i experience - Managed services experience preferred - Degree in IT or equivalent experience Physical Requirements - Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. - Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
