This is what you need to know: Location: Knoxville TN (Other office locations may be available) Salary: Highly Competitive Plus Benefits Contract: Permanent, full time Reporting to: Senior Director of Systems Engineering Your role in the mission: Type One Energy are seeking are seeking an experienced Senior RF Engineer-ECH System Lead to oversee the design, development, and implementation of advanced RF and microwave systems for stellarator fusion. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with proven leadership and business development skills, driving innovation and excellence across multidisciplinary teams. You will: - Lead and mentor a team of engineers, scientists, and technicians in the design, construction, and testing of millimeter wave and microwave components and systems for plasma heating. - Oversee multiple RF projects ensuring technical excellence and timely delivery. - Serve as a technical advisor for RF programs, providing guidance on system architecture, diagnostics, fusion absorption, and operation. - Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the RF group. - Manage client relationships and act as the primary point of contact for technical communications. - Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in RF system design and safety. What you’ll need: - Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. - 10+ years of experience in RF and microwave technology, with a focus on high-power systems. - Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex projects. - Strong background in millimeter wave component/system design, plasma heating, radar, or accelerator technologies. - Proven track record in business development, proposal writing, and strategic planning. - Excellent communication, leadership, and mentorship skills. - Experience working with both domestic and international clients.
