Role Description The primary purpose of the Field Application Scientist - Confocal position is to provide technical pre- and post-sales support for all confocal microscopy products. Support will be provided to Leica’s Life Science Research customers and Confocal Sales Specialists in all facets of their selling activities. The Field Applications Scientist will perform product demonstrations, troubleshooting, and training sessions with end customers and sales reps. This role will also handle demonstration system logistics and confirm correct system functionality as well as perform successful product demonstrations to drive advanced widefield system sales. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: - Provide expert product, application, and software support to customers and sales and perform successful product demonstrations to drive sales results. - Provide technical troubleshooting and conduct trainings for customers and Leica employees and participate and instruct in customer workshops and schedule/run product seminars. - Test and confirm demo system functionality, develop protocols to image customer samples. - Work with customers or other professionals to generate field data and application notes, which highlight product benefits and help differentiate Leica products. - Assist in meeting sales goals for each of the Widefield sales reps in his/her assigned territory and provide positive motivation and support to help sales reps meet their goals. Qualifications - BA/BS in the life sciences or optics field (Masters or PhD preferred). - Minimum 2 years in a research environment, regularly applying microscopy and digital imaging techniques. - High level of computer proficiency with troubleshooting knowledge. - Experience in a customer-facing support role. - Teaching or training experience, providing training and advice on how to use imaging equipment and techniques to solve scientific questions. - Familiarity with biological imaging applications; fluorescence, confocal microscopy, and optics experience highly valued. Requirements - Travel: Up to 40% overnight travel. - Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. • Drive sales of Agilent Flow Cytometry solutions through pre-sales activities, including product demonstrations, technical presentations, and customer engagements in collaboration with the Sales Team. • Build strong customer relationships by delivering pre- and post-sales training and providing high-quality technical support. • Capture and communicate the Voice of the Customer, including product feedback, enhancement opportunities, and market trends. • Serve as the subject matter expert for the Flow sales team, supporting the resolution of technical questions and challenges. • Support technical sales and marketing initiatives by presenting at conferences and developing and delivering presentations in both virtual and in-person settings. • Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, with regular weekly travel and overnight stays.

• Provide customer assistance on more detailed or complex questions regarding our immunoassay platform, including assay design and planning, correlation and bridging between platforms, and data interpretation. • Present scientific seminars to prospects and assist with pre-sales opportunities by carrying out evaluations at prospect sites. • Attend, present and interact with customers at scientific meetings, conferences and tradeshows. • Provide feedback and updates to other team members (including sales, marketing and PM teams). • Provide customer feedback and field visit reports to other team members. • Serve as a subject matter expert for immunoassays and stay current on the science and workflows within immunoassay fields with opportunities to present to internal teams on those matters. • Collaborate with global FAS teams to help train peers and synergize on resources. • Empower scientists by training and supporting them on instrument use, assay development and data analysis for Luminex & Ella instruments and software. • Develop and nurture positive relationships with customers and internal teams in assigned territory. • Foster increased product usage, support sales efforts through technical presentations, product demonstrations and participation at vendor shows. • Accompany Sales Representatives in customer laboratories to provide technical and applications expertise. • Provide post-sales assay development and troubleshooting support for customers in-person, virtually, and via phone and email. • Travel to customer laboratories to provide support. • Contribute customer feedback to marketing, product development and software teams. • Assist in creation and review of technical literature and training resources. • Create and maintain customer support information using our CRM (SalesForce). • Communicate effectively with customers and team members.

• Assist the ecological lead in performing stream, wetland, wildlife habitat assessments, and other ecological surveys • Assist ecological leads with process field data and development/originating ecological assessment reports • Assist with coordination of various governmental agencies regarding ecological survey protocols, reporting standards, or endangered and threatened species coordination • Review desktop information to complete environmental impact assessments • Work with the ecological lead to become familiar with our field survey equipment, data forms and other data collection and reporting tools
