Role Description Reporting into the Security Engineering and Operations team, the Security Engineer helps evolve and operationalize the security tooling at WELL Health. This is a hands-on, remote role focused on: - Owning the SIEM. - Deploying, evolving, and maintaining our SIEM solution, including data onboarding, data source health, and long-term architecture. - Uplifting the security tool stack. - Improving and integrating our tooling across XDR, Tenable, Wiz, Nagomi, Entra, Intune, and emerging AI security tools. - Running investigations. - Performing security investigations and helping improve our synthetic/AI analyst capabilities. - Hunting and building detections. - Conducting threat hunts and developing detection rules and content for the SIEM. - Building and standardizing processes. - Developing and maturing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedure (MOPs). - Measuring what matters. - Developing, standardizing, and uplifting security metrics, KPIs, and SLAs to track performance. - Supporting GRC. - Providing evidence for audits and compliance, and aligning tooling to the standards set by our policies and procedures. - Supporting incident response. - Participating in and supporting incident response activities across various parts of the organization. - Evaluating new tools. - Supporting POC/POV activities to assess and select new security technologies. - Raising the bar. - Proactively surfacing issues and bringing recommendations that improve WELL Health’s overall security posture. Qualifications - Hands-on experience with SIEM deployment, tuning, and rule/detection development. - Experience with endpoint detection and response and endpoint security operations (EDR/XDR). - Experience with tools such as Tenable and Wiz (Vulnerability Management). - Experience across detection, investigation, and containment (Incident Response). - Detection engineering and rule development (Threat hunting). - Experience developing SOPs/MOPs and driving process standardization and operational uplift. - Familiarity with defining and reporting security metrics, KPIs, and SLAs. - Exposure to supporting audits, evidence collection, and control alignment (GRC). - Comfortable working directly with stakeholders (experience in an MSSP environment is a strong plus). - A willingness to elevate issues and come to the table with recommendations, not just problems (Initiative). - A genuine willingness to learn and adapt as our stack evolves (Curiosity). Requirements The salary for this position falls within a defined range of $165,000 - $185,000 CAD per annum and will be determined based on several factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and the needs of the organization.
