• Independently deliver well-scoped customer-facing features and platform capabilities from design and implementation through rollout and follow-through in production. • Build reliable services, APIs, and web experiences, improving existing systems while shipping new capabilities. • Contribute to AI-powered workflows and experiences using modern LLM tooling, including evaluation, iteration, and human-in-the-loop patterns. • Make thoughtful technical tradeoffs across speed, maintainability, scalability, and customer impact. • Collaborate across Engineering, Product, Design, ML, and platform teams to deliver cohesive customer experiences. • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Job Requirements
- 18 months+ of relevant software engineering experience building, shipping, and operating reliable customer-facing production systems.
- Experience developing features or end-to-end solutions across backend services, APIs, and modern web applications.
- Ability to independently own moderately complex projects or features within a release or two, with strong execution and follow-through.
- Experience writing clean, efficient, maintainable code and reviewing peer code for correctness and clarity.
- Ability to make thoughtful technical tradeoffs across performance, scalability, maintainability, and delivery speed.
- Experience using metrics, logs, tests, or tracing to debug issues, validate releases, and improve reliability.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering and cross-functional partners.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in AI-native development, including LLMs and workflow automation.
- A growth mindset, strong product intuition, and excitement for learning new technologies and building impactful customer experiences.
