Quantitative Analyst
EasyshipLeading shipping platform that helps eCommerce merchants sell globally. Sharing tips & updates on life at Easyship!
Role Description We're looking for a quantitatively brilliant, commercially astute analyst to be the founder's "second brain" in data. You will sit at the centre of the business, see every data point that matters, and turn it into the insight that shapes decisions at the very top. This is not a reporting role; it is a thinking-partner role for someone who wants to understand how every part of the company works through its numbers, and to influence where it goes next. - Acting as the founder's analytical right hand — stress-testing ideas, pressure-checking assumptions, and bringing the data view to every important decision. - Building a single, connected picture of the business: understanding how each function's data (revenue, product, ops, marketing, finance) fits together and where the real levers are. - Writing clean, performant SQL to pull, join, and interrogate data across the company's systems — no question is off-limits and no dataset is someone else's problem. - Using modern AI tooling in your day-to-day — to accelerate analysis, prototype models, and surface patterns a spreadsheet would miss. - Turning analysis into commercial narrative: crisp memos, clear recommendations, and the "so what" that drives action. - Owning ad-hoc deep dives at short notice — sizing an opportunity, diagnosing a metric that moved, or modelling a scenario the founder needs before a board meeting. - Defining the success metrics that matter for every team in the company, and using them to manage the business by exception — partnering with the Data team on the underlying data, not owning it. Qualifications - You have ~3 years in a quantitative or analytical role, ideally including time spent directly supporting a founder or CEO. - You have genuinely strong SQL — comfortable with complex joins, window functions, and wrangling imperfect real-world data into something trustworthy. - You are hands-on with AI in practice — you already use LLMs and modern tooling to work faster and go deeper, and you're excited to push that further. - You are commercially astute — you instinctively connect the numbers to revenue, cost, and growth, not just to a chart. - You are a first-principles thinker who is comfortable with ambiguity and can turn a vague question into a structured answer. - You have high drive and ownership — you chase problems down without being asked and treat the whole business as your remit. - You are a clear communicator who can make a complex analysis land with a non-technical audience, including the founder. - You have experience in an established organisation, consulting, trading, or another data-intensive, fast-moving environment. - Bonus: Python (or similar) for analysis and lightweight modelling; exposure to building or fine-tuning models, or shipping AI-assisted internal tools; a track record of self-directed projects that show initiative. Benefits - Generous remuneration and stock units. - We reimburse gym and wellness expenses so you can invest in your health. - The freedom to ‘Work from Anywhere’ for 4 weeks in a year. - Generous vacation policy, plus duvet days and mental health days to truly recharge.
