Role Description Make your impact within a rapidly growing fintech company. As the Technical Accounting Senior Manager, you will be the company's subject-matter expert on complex, non-recurring, and emerging accounting matters. You will research and document accounting positions under U.S. GAAP, partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and the business, and help ensure our financial statements and disclosures are accurate, complete, and audit-ready. This role reports into the Technical Accounting & External Reporting leadership team and works closely with the Corporate Controller organization. What You'll Do - Research and evaluate the accounting impact of new or non-recurring transactions that are significant and may have a material impact to the Company's financial statements, and document conclusions in well-supported technical accounting memos reviewed by the Head of Financial Reporting and SOX PMO. - Monitor and assess new and emerging accounting pronouncements (ASUs) and SEC guidance, maintain the Company's accounting policies, and lead implementation of significant changes; subscribe to and leverage Big 4 accounting research tools and training. - Prepare technical accounting analyses and memo across areas such as revenue, stock-based compensation, leases, EPS, debt, equity, investments and others. - Serve as the technical accounting reviewer/approver in the Chart of Accounts creation and maintenance process, verifying that account mappings and financial statement alignments are accurate and adhere to internal standards. - Support the preparation and review of workpapers underlying the Form 10-Q/10-K, including areas such as EPS, stock-based compensation, and other non-routine transactions. - Own and operate key SOX controls within your areas, coordinate with external auditors on walkthroughs and requests, and maintain thorough, audit-ready documentation. - Partner with the compensation team to forecast stock-based compensation expenses. - Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and business teams to evaluate the accounting and reporting implications of new transactions, and strategic initiatives. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; active CPA required. - 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant Big 4 public accounting experience (technical accounting / national office experience a plus). - Strong, current knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, with demonstrated ability to research technical issues and write clear, well-supported position papers/memos. - Experience with technical accounting areas such as stock-based compensation (ASC 718), leases (ASC 842), revenue (ASC 606), debt, and business combinations. - Public company experience and a working understanding of SOX internal controls and the external audit process. - Fintech or SaaS industry experience is a plus. - Hands-on experience with NetSuite and/or Oracle and Workiva preferred; advanced Excel skills. - Excellent communication and cross-functional partnering skills; comfortable operating in a fast-paced financial close environment with a high degree of ownership and autonomy. Role Description The Director, Accounting will assist the Controller in managing the overall accounting process, financial statement preparation and tax preparation for both the 501(c)(3) Sandy Hook Promise Foundation and the 501(c)(4) Sandy Hook Promise Action Fund.
