Workday Finance Lead Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG) Location: US Remote | Hybrid Work Opportunities Available About the Role: Join Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG) as a Workday Finance Lead and play a critical role in shaping our financial systems strategy. In this role, you will lead the functional Workday Finance ecosystem, provide strategic guidance to business partners, and oversee day-to-day production support and platform optimization. This position combines hands-on Workday Financials configuration expertise with oversight of a high-performing team supporting Accounting, Finance, Procurement, and related functions. Key responsibilities will include: Maintaining translation tables for integrations Managing foreign exchange rate rules for remeasurement and translation Assisting finance in creating EIBs Updating validation rules Monitoring data quality in the ledger and assist in data cleanup Maintaining elimination rules Updating equity pickup rules Rolling forward year-end balances Maintaining worktag types for beginning balance journals Utilizing Accounting Center edit functionality to clear errors from integrated files Serving as Workday FIN subject matter expert for business user questions and requests Essential Functions: Governance Establish governance frameworks for prioritization, release planning, escalation workflows, and issue resolution Support administration and governance of finance-related business processes Partner with Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Internal Audit, and IT to align systems with strategies Production Support Ownership Own and manage the Workday Financials production support lifecycle Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions Oversee regression testing for Workday releases Coordinate with IT, Integration, Help Desk, and Security teams Functional Workday Expertise Configure, maintain, and optimize Workday Financials modules Analyze release notes and determine uptake strategies Improve financial processes, workflows, and data accuracy Cross-Functional Collaboration Gather requirements and translate needs into Workday solutions Competitive compensation package (base salary & bonus) Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, 401(k), paid time off, and tuition reimbursement Medical and dental coverage available starting the first of the month following 30 days of service Hybrid work opportunities About Us: Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG) serves the life, accident, and health insurance needs of individuals and businesses across 49 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands through its U.S.-based member companies—Pan-American Life Insurance Company and Pan-American Assurance Company. - Education & Experience:
- Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5+ years of experience in Finance/ERP roles, including 3+ years in Workday Financials with hands-on configuration and troubleshooting. Must have production support ownership experience, strong accounting/financial process knowledge, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Preferred:
- Degree in Accounting, change management experience, Workday migration experience, experience leading others, and Workday Pro Certifications.

• Partner with CTO and CPO to drive financial decision-making for the R&D organization, including evaluating technical debt vs. feature investment trade-offs, conducting ROI analyses for product initiatives, and building product line P&Ls that inform strategic priorities • Translate product roadmaps into financial forecasts, ensuring alignment between engineering capacity, product strategy, and financial targets • Lead monthly and quarterly forecasting processes for R&D, collaborating with leadership to develop accurate projections based on hiring plans, project timelines, and resource allocation • Manage project tracking systems to monitor R&D spending across initiatives, connecting data from multiple sources (HRIS, project management tools, financial systems) to provide comprehensive visibility • Deliver monthly budget vs. actual analysis with detailed variance explanations, drilling into payroll, contractor spend, and vendor costs to identify trends and opportunities • Analyze key business drivers to quantify how R&D investments translate into product velocity, customer adoption, and incremental revenue • Own COGS hosting forecasting and analysis, partnering with engineering and operations teams to model cost drivers and identify optimization opportunities • Develop headcount planning models that balance investment needs with efficiency targets • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline reporting workflows, leveraging automation and AI where appropriate • Prepare board-ready materials with clear narratives and compelling data visualization that communicate complex financial stories to non-financial audiences
• Build and maintain product-level unit economics across photo output products • Own gross margin, shipping margin, and contribution margin modeling • Develop end-to-end cost-to-serve frameworks by product, channel, and region • Evaluate pricing and promotional proposals for margin and contribution impact • Model tradeoffs between free shipping, flat-rate shipping, and thresholds • Produce clear, actionable dashboards for gross margin and shipping cost per order
