Job Description
Performance Marketing Lead
Ruby Labs
Role Description We are looking for a Performance Marketing Lead (Google & Microsoft Ads), to lead and scale our advertising across the Ruby Labs portfolio. This is a senior player-coach role. You will own Google Ads and Microsoft Ads execution across multiple brands, coach and develop acquisition managers, set account standards, improve performance, and protect account health across a large multi-brand setup. You will be responsible for scaling spend profitably across Search, Performance Max, Demand Gen, YouTube, and Microsoft Ads. You will conduct regular account audits, identify missed opportunities, and make sure every brand is using Google and Bing to their full potential. This is not a reporting-only leadership role. You need to stay close to the accounts, understand the details, and be able to challenge strategy, structure, bidding, compliance, measurement, and execution yourself. We also work AI-first. You will own the Google and Bing acquisition knowledge base inside Claude, including playbooks, audit frameworks, prompts, automations, QA checklists, and repeatable workflows that help the team operate faster and better. Key Responsibilities - Scale profitable spend across multiple brands, geos, languages, and funnels. - Manage CPA, ROAS, CAC, and payback against real revenue data, not surface-level platform metrics. - Conduct regular account audits across all brands to identify gaps, missed opportunities, inefficient structures, underused campaign types, weak signals, and scaling potential. - Ensure every brand is fully utilizing Google and Microsoft Ads opportunities across Search, Performance Max, Demand Gen, YouTube, and Microsoft Ads. - Work with Managing Directors and UA Managers to translate brand targets into practical Google and Bing execution. - Own channel-level recommendations for budget allocation, account structure, bidding approach, testing priorities, and scale-up opportunities. - Partner with Google and Microsoft teams on betas, new campaign types, product changes, escalation paths, and platform-level opportunities. Team Leadership - Coach, teach, and develop acquisition managers working on Google and Microsoft Ads. - Hire, onboard, manage, and, where necessary, make replacement decisions for Google and Bing acquisition talent. - Own performance evaluation, goals, KPIs, feedback cycles, and personal development plans for the Google and Bing team. - Set the performance bar and craft standards for the team. - Review account work, train UA managers, and raise the overall quality of execution. - Ensure every brand has clear ownership, weekly reporting, and strong channel support. - Stay hands-on enough to audit accounts, challenge decisions, and guide execution from real account data. Account Architecture & Governance - Define standards for account structure, naming, conversion architecture, bidding, testing, reporting, documentation, and QA. - Review major account changes before launch and ensure changes are hypothesis-driven, measured, and documented. - Run monthly account audits across all Google and Microsoft Ads accounts. - Maintain clean documentation so account knowledge, automations, tests, and learnings are not dependent on one person. - Build repeatable standards that UA managers can follow across brands without losing brand-specific context. Policy & Compliance - Own Google and Microsoft Ads policy and compliance across all Ruby Labs brands. - Protect account health across all brands. - Own policy workflows for ad review, disapprovals, appeals, account restrictions, and escalation. - Work closely with brand teams on ad-to-landing-page consistency, claims, pricing, funnel compliance, and policy-sensitive testing. - Build prevention-first processes so policy issues are caught before launch. - Maintain direct escalation paths with Google and Microsoft representatives. - Have the authority to block launches that create material account or policy risk. AI-First Operating System - Own the Google and Bing acquisition knowledge base inside Claude, including playbooks, SOPs, audit frameworks, campaign QA checklists, prompts, and reusable workflows. - Design AI-assisted workflows for keyword research, campaign builds, audits, QA, reporting, opportunity discovery, and optimization review. - Train UA managers to use Claude workflows correctly and consistently in their daily Google and Bing work. - Evaluate workflow quality, improve the knowledge base over time, and turn successful processes into repeatable team standards. - Use AI to increase team speed and quality while keeping human judgment, compliance, and account safety at the center. Qualifications - 7+ years of hands-on paid search experience. - Experience coaching, leading, hiring, and evaluating Google Ads specialists, UA managers, or paid search teams. - Direct ownership of large Google Ads budgets, ideally $5M+ per month hands-on and $10M+ per month at portfolio level. - Strong Search, Performance Max, Demand Gen, and YouTube experience. - Microsoft Ads experience, including Microsoft Audience Network. - Proven record scaling accounts profitably across multiple countries and languages. - Strong understanding of subscription economics: LTV, CAC, ROAS, payback windows, cohorts, and value-based bidding. - Deep Google Ads policy experience, including disapprovals, appeals, account restrictions, and compliance-heavy environments. - Strong account architecture, audit, documentation, and measurement discipline. - Ability to identify scaling opportunities and practical account improvements from account-level data. - Clear, direct communication with both acquisition managers and senior stakeholders. Strong Advantage - Experience managing enterprise-level search accounts or large multi-brand paid search portfolios. - Experience with Google Ads scripts, Google Ads API, SQL, or internal automation tools. - Experience building Claude, AI, or agentic workflows for marketing operations. - Experience building team knowledge bases, SOPs, QA systems, and training programs for paid acquisition teams. - D2C subscription, lead-gen, or consumer web funnel experience. - Experience with high-scrutiny categories, trademark-sensitive ads, or complex policy environments. - Experience working directly with Google or Microsoft teams on betas, product pilots, and escalation paths. Location Ruby Labs operates within the CET (Central European Time) zone. Applicants from any country are welcome to apply for the position as long as they are located within approximately ± 4 hours of CET. This ensures optimal collaboration and communication during working hours. Benefits - Remote Work Environment: Embrace the freedom to work from anywhere, anytime, promoting a healthy work-life balance. - Unlimited PTO: Enjoy unlimited paid time off to recharge and prioritize your well-being, without counting days. - Paid National Holidays: Celebrate and relax on national holidays with paid time off to unwind and recharge. - Company-provided MacBook: Experience seamless productivity with top-notch Apple MacBooks provided to all employees who need them. - Flexible Independent Contractor Agreement: Unlock the benefits of flexibility, autonomy, and entrepreneurial opportunities. Benefit from tax advantages, networking opportunities, reduced employment obligations, and the freedom to work from anywhere. Interview Process After submitting your application, we conduct a thorough review which typically takes 3 to 5 days, but may occasionally take longer due to the volume of applications received. If we see a potential fit, we proceed with the following steps: - Recruiter Screening (40 minutes) - Technical Interview (90 minutes) - Final Interview (60 minutes) Life at Ruby Labs At Ruby Labs, we move fast, aim high, and expect the same from our team.
