Part-Time At-Risk Teacher / Part-Time Family Engagement Specialist

Role Description Landmark Academy must provide an excellent education to all our students consistent with the mission, vision, and goals of the Academy and with the core values of Summit Management Consulting. Your primary goal is to ensure that each of your students is learning subject matter identified in the State standards and the Landmark Academy curriculum. The primary function of the Part-Time At-Risk Teacher and Part-Time Family Engagement Specialist is to support students in the Virtual Landmark Academy. At-Risk Teacher Essential Functions - Analyze State, District and classroom data. - Work with students to accelerate academic performance. - Become familiar with NWEA testing and the Data Drop process. - Provide activities and instructional strategies to increase student’s knowledge in the core academic areas. - Consistently review and analyze student performance data to develop plans to meet the needs of all students (refer to the 4 essential PLC questions). - Maintain timely, complete and accurate student records. - Ensure that parents are frequently advised as to their child’s performance and progress. - Conduct research, attend conferences, meetings, and pursue continuing education to ensure you are serving to model being a life-long learner and to ensure you are providing effective instruction. - Keep your teaching certification up to date as your professional responsibility. - Perform other duties and tasks as directed by School Administration. Family Engagement Specialist Essential Functions - Acts as the main motivational coach for the assigned caseload of parents/students. - Works through a tier structure of parental support to improve engagement, attendance, and buy-in from families. - Is the “go-to” for parents during onboarding, orientation, and ongoing parent training. - Creates and provides parents with resources, including but not limited to, videos, step by step guides, and FAQs. - Tutor students virtually. - Tracks daily student attendance and provides outreach communication regarding absences. - Continually converse with students to maintain their success. - Assist in implementing behavior plans. - Provide engagement support, including but not limited to, calls home, texts, emails to students/families, in-person event attendance. - Attend and administer state assessments, in-person, as needed. - Support benchmark assessment administration and reporting. - Assist Administrators and Teachers, as necessary. - Supervise students in the live classes, small groups, 1:1 sessions, and meetings, as needed. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree required. - Michigan Teaching Certification in the assigned area. - Pre-service experience, as required for certification. Requirements - Time Management. - Positive communication skills; able to relate to students, parents, and staff. - Behavior modification skills. - Classroom management. - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email skills. - Positive reinforcement skills. - Punctuality, exemplary attendance. - Knowledge of and ability to follow federal and state safety regulations. - Ability to work as a team. - Understanding and ability to incorporate student learning styles. - Mastery of assigned subject of instruction. Physical Demands - Regularly required to talk and hear. - Very active position requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. - Must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. - Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment This job operates in a classroom environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and projectors.
