Hood Container Corporation
Role Description The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the performance, integrity, security, and availability of Hood Container’s enterprise databases. This role supports mission-critical systems—including ERP platforms (e.g., Amtech EnCore, Kiwi MES, Microsoft Dynamics 365 - Microsoft SQL – Azure, ABB MES - Oracle database), manufacturing systems, inventory management, and customer-facing applications—ensuring reliable data operations across multiple plant and warehouse locations. The DBA’s short to medium term goals will be improving scalability for existing software interfaces, optimization of backup strategy, and optimization of the servers at an O/S and database level. The DBA will work closely with IT, operations, and business teams to optimize database performance, support integrations (e.g., EDI, APIs), and drive data reliability across the organization. Qualifications - 3-5 years of experience in IT systems, infrastructure, or related roles - Exposure to Windows Server and/or Linux environments - Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration concepts - Basic understanding of Remote Desktop Services (RDS) - Basic understanding of virtualization concepts - Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) - Willingness to learn scripting and automation tools - Strong documentation and communication skills Requirements - Support Windows and/or Linux server environments - Assist with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or equivalent) - Perform routine system checks, maintenance, and health monitoring - Support Active Directory / Azure AD user, group, and access management - Support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive - Assist with core services such as DNS, DHCP, authentication, and file services - Support Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environments, including session hosts and user access - Support day-to-day operations of hybrid on-prem and cloud systems - Assist with Microsoft 365 tenant administration and licensing - Support cloud resource management under senior engineer direction - Monitor system performance and escalating issues as appropriate - Participate in infrastructure upgrades and modernization projects - Perform patching and routine vulnerability remediation tasks - Follow security standards, access controls, and change procedures - Assist with backup verification and disaster recovery testing - Support secure configuration of Microsoft 365 and RDS environments - Document incidents and operational procedures - Run and maintain existing automation scripts and tools - Develop foundational scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash) - Assist with documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures - Responding to assigned incidents and service requests - Escalating complex issues to senior engineers - Participate in on-call rotation in a limited, supported capacity - Actively developing technical skills through mentorship and training Benefits - Provide support during Eastern Time Zone

• Designs, installs, configures, and maintains Oracle database management systems • Optimizes the data environment by keeping databases finely tuned • Troubleshoots data access problems • Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls
• As a Mid-level SQL Server DBA, you will configure and maintain environments with AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances (FCI), Log Shipping and Replication; • Identify I/O, CPU and memory bottlenecks; • Analyze execution plans (Execution Plans), identify unnecessary Index Scans, design efficient indexing strategies and resolve deadlocks and lock escalation issues; • Ensure the backup policy (Full, Differential, Transaction Log) meets the business RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective), and regularly test and validate restores; • Have a deep understanding of how queries work to help the development team optimize code, stored procedures and triggers; • Troubleshoot quickly using tools such as Extended Events, Query Store, DMVs (Dynamic Management Views) or Profiler; • Analyze data growth trends, plan capacity and recommend infrastructure upgrades or historical data archiving; • Use PowerShell or T-SQL scripts to automate repetitive tasks (such as integrity checks with dbatools/DBCC CHECKDB and reindexing). • Manage SQL Server environments • Plan and execute: • Backup and restore strategies • Index and statistics maintenance plans • Installation and configuration of SQL Server • Administer security: • Object-level permissions • Principle of least privilege • Basic encryption (TDE, encrypted backups) • Perform performance analysis and troubleshooting • Use Query Store to: • Identify plan regressions • Force plans when necessary • Use Profiler and Extended Events for troubleshooting • Replication: • Transactional replication • Snapshot replication • Bi-directional replication • Support database architecture improvements • Work closely with development teams
• Design, install, operate and optimize the Court's Oracle database resources and solutions, ensuring high availability, integrity, security and performance of institutional data • Install, deploy, administer and maintain the set of tools, software and hardware for the organization's Oracle solutions • Handle incidents, problems, requests and level-3 changes related to the database environment • Perform configurations, changes and optimizations (tuning) to ensure optimal application performance • Keep the environment up to date by applying patches and fixes, following change management guidelines • Provide specialized technical support in data techniques and tools for system maintenance projects • Administer the Oracle environment specifically, maintaining the data object library and ensuring an integrated view of information • Specify logical data security criteria and validate logical and physical models with the client • Configure and manage backup and restore routines, supporting the proposal of data protection policies • Perform continuous analysis of performance and utilization of computing resources • Lead the evaluation of new database infrastructure solutions and prepare technical specifications to support institutional analyses • Prepare and keep technical documentation and best-practice articles up to date.
