The Software Engineer Senior Consultant collaborates with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and deliver secure, high-quality software solutions. Work Arrangement - Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 1 day per week onsite in Dallas, TX, and 4 days remote Job Responsibilities - Participate in iteration planning meetings to ensure a shared understanding of user stories and team backlog items - Engage in daily standups (site, cross-site, and product teams) and practice paired programming and test-driven development as part of daily work - Contribute to retrospectives by identifying opportunities for process or product improvement - Collaborate in designing systems and applications that meet technical and business requirements - Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices - Provide production support for software products in user environments - Serve as a subject matter expert within a specific business domain, demonstrating leadership and accountability across teams and forums (including ECC and SWAT calls) - Participate in knowledge sharing and contribute to the overall technical growth of the team - Coach and mentor junior engineers on software development best practices and XP methodologies Essential Skills - 3-4+ years of software development experience (preferred) - 3+ years of experience hands-on experience developing software using Java and J2EE - 1+ year applying Test Driven Development (TDD) and Extreme Programming (XP) practices within an Agile environment - Strong understanding of computer science concepts and object-oriented design principles - Familiarity with continuous integration and DevOps tools such as IntelliJ IDEA, GitHub, Jenkins, SonarQube, Gradle, or Maven - Proficiency in testing tools such as Postman, Bruno, or SoapUI - Experience with quality and security scanning tools such as Sonar, Fortify, or Contrast - Working knowledge of messaging systems such as Kafka or similar technologies - Ability to write clean, maintainable, and secure code aligned with industry best practices, which can include debugging and monitoring. • Investigate and resolve complex production incidents across distributed applications and microservices. • Analyze application logs, APIs, SQL data, and system integrations to identify root causes of production issues. • Perform structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and document findings, corrective actions, and preventive recommendations. • Debug backend services developed primarily in Node.js and TypeScript, implementing small code fixes when required. • Validate production fixes through API testing, SQL validation, and regression verification before deployment. • Collaborate closely with Development, QA, Infrastructure, and third-party vendors to coordinate incident resolution. • Differentiate issues originating from internally managed applications versus external platforms and coordinate the appropriate resolution path. • Monitor production environments and proactively identify potential risks before they impact business operations. • Communicate investigation progress, technical findings, and recommendations to both technical teams and business stakeholders. • Support deployment validation and investigate issues related to releases, configuration changes, or infrastructure updates. • Contribute to the continuous improvement of support processes, documentation, and operational best practices. • Prioritize multiple production incidents based on business impact while maintaining high-quality communication throughout the resolution process.

• Support customers on the application of Onto Innovation’s automatic optical inspection (AOI) • Troubleshoot process integration-related issues • Evaluate product performance and implementation of new features • Train customers on system operation and how to get the most benefit from IBU (Inspection Business Unit) products • Support account team by providing technical direction and conduct aggressive activities to maximize business opportunities

• Build agentic applications that solve real customer use cases using our platform capabilities. • Design agentic workflows, plugins, and tool integrations that deliver measurable customer value. • Translate ambiguous problems into intuitive AI experiences. • Rapidly build new applications, gather feedback, and iterate into production-ready solutions. • Partner closely with platform engineers to inform abstractions and reusable components. • Identify common patterns across customer deployments and help evolve them into reusable products. • Own customer-facing quality—from UX and reliability to performance and evaluation.
