Title: Adventure Assistant Location: Chappaqua, New York, 10514, United States - Part-Time - On-site - Locations Showing 1 location Wagon Road Chappaqua, NY 10514, USA - Pay or shift range: $18 USD to $19.75 USD The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons. Department: Seasonal Job Description: Salary: $18 - $19.75 Position Summary: Children's Aid runs a summer day camp in Chappaqua, NY that brings together children from Manhattan, the Bronx, and Westchester. Campers and staff are bused to and from the camp each day. The purpose of this camp is to provide traditional summer camp activities (swimming, arts & crafts, sports, horsemanship, etc.) in the context of relationship building. The children who attend this camp are from different socio-economic, cultural, and racial backgrounds, and range in age from 6-13. The Adventure Assistant is responsible for managing the Adventure Program at the summer camp. This Adventure Assistant must help implement the adventure curriculum for the campers with the expressed purpose of having fun, building teamwork and learning new things. The Adventure Assistant is supervised by the Adventure Specialist. Essential Duties: - Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures. - Help Implement the Adventure Program in the summer camp for all 24 groups of campers. Each group will have from 11 sessions over the seven weeks of camp. - Help Maintain all the supplies and equipment used in the program, keeping the storage area clean. - Follow all policies and procedures set out for the Adventure Program in the Local Operating Procedures. - When using the high elements conduct the necessary pre-fight checks as required by the manual. - Work with each group leader and the campers to engage in different adventure activities so that the campers try new things, have fun, and build teamwork. - Help in the management of the adventure climbing wall and surrounding areas that are used for adventure where the athletics program is held. - Monitor all the activities to ensure the safety of the campers. Deploy the group staff for good supervision. - Attend 3 days of training and orientation prior to camp. - Attend one skills verification session - Fulfill job activities not listed here important to the success of the camp. Minimum Qualifications: - Experience in the use of adventure games, initiatives, low ropes, and high ropes. - Experience in belaying and knot tying preferred.
