Senior Test Engineer

Role Description We are seeking a Senior Test Engineer with clinical experience and proficiency with the Oracle Millennium Electronic Health Record solution to provide functional testing support for the Veterans Affairs (VA) Independent Enterprise Testing and Support Services (IETSS) contract. The objective is to support improved interoperability within and between systems of care to help address VA’s health care priorities. This includes contributing to and supporting the overall performance and success of the project including, but not limited to: - Design, implement, and conduct test and evaluation procedures to ensure health information technology system requirements are met. - Determine operational feasibility by evaluating requirements and test results. - Document and demonstrate knowledge of solutions by developing documentation, reviewing test plans, developing test cases, and entering test findings when appropriate. - Review solution documentation and system design specifications. - Improve operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures. - Collaborate and actively participate in meetings with stakeholders, other engineers, and Subject Matter Experts. - Support various applications including VistA legacy, Oracle Millennium, COTS/GOTS integration with VistA legacy and others. Qualifications - Clinician experience as Physician, Physician Assistant, Licensed Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, or similar role. - Experience with Oracle Millennium EHR. - Must understand Web-based applications. - Good understanding of functional testing. - Good interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communications skills. - Experience producing effective client deliverable analysis reports with little to no supervision. - Ability to work simultaneously on multiple tasks, handle changing priorities, be detail-oriented, and work independently. - Applicants selected will be subject to a government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and obtain a Government-granted Security clearance. Requirements - MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). - Communication tools (Teams, SharePoint). Desired Qualifications - Access to VA network is a big plus. - Testing experience is preferred. - Any VA or DoD healthcare or architecture/engineering experience would be a plus. - Specific experience in the Veterans Affairs environment and with VistA preferred. - Experience in Large Application Deployment and DevOps implementations. - Experience with Micro Focus Application Lifecycle Management (ALM). - Risk-based testing methodologies. - Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) testing. • Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks for Commerce's Salesforce org — covering Apex unit tests, UI automation, API testing, and end-to-end regression suites. • Integrate automated test execution into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and SFDX-based deployment workflows, ensuring quality gates are enforced on every deployment to production. • Define and own test strategy across the SDLC — from story acceptance criteria and test plan authorship through execution, defect triage, and sign-off. • Investigate defects systematically: reproduce, isolate, categorize by impact, and produce minimum viable test cases that prevent recurrence. • Identify test coverage gaps across Apex classes, flows, integrations, and UI — and close them proactively rather than reactively. • Build and maintain test data management strategies that support reliable, repeatable test execution across sandbox environments. • Partner with developers on code reviews with a quality lens — flagging testability concerns, missing coverage, and brittle patterns before they reach production. • Own and evolve the team's quality dashboard, surfacing coverage metrics, defect trends, error rates, and deployment health to the broader team. • Participate in agile ceremonies, contribute to story refinement, and advocate for acceptance criteria that are specific enough to test. • Champion a culture of quality — not as a gate at the end of the process, but as a shared responsibility built into every stage of delivery.
