Senior Plant Controls Engineer – Global Design Leader

• leading extended scope controls engineering projects through kick-off, hardware design, software development, commissioning to commercial plant operation. • support the requisition, design, structuring, validation and commissioning control systems for GT, Bottoming Cycle (HRSG & ST) and Balance of Plant (BOP). • compile the project level controls strategy, document requirements, lead the design and implementation of controls system projects, covering GT, Bottoming Cycle (HRSG & ST) and Balance of Plant (BOP). • Demonstrate leadership by making independent decisions at the project level. • Own projects from ITO-COD for high risk complex projects as defined by internal risk review. • Support ITO/ Proposal efforts. • Work and Lead in an Agile software methodology. • Support and influence product requirements definition. • Lead globally and be accountable for overall Control System Requirements definition and management. • Drive overall Architecture, top level design, verification, validation and commissioning requirements. • Ensure adequate system function, performance, interface, reliability, maintainability and safety requirements, goals and margins are defined and managed. • Support & influence comprehensive test plans for system verification and validation, new article and customer system Software Acceptance Tests (SwATs), site pre-operation, startup and commissioning. • Coordinate flow down of internal and external customer requirements/tasks. • Partner with Project Managers to establish Projects Baseline Master Schedule and Cost Roll-ups. • Lead and promote customer discussions/reviews for an improved controls solution and customer experience and expectations. • Drive consistent solutions across all controls (GT, ST, HRSG, BOP, Electrical). • Demonstrate System Level thinking. • Lead fulfillment teams with an inclusive adaptable style – able to quickly learn diverse and varying organizational interfaces with professional astuteness and agility. • Collaborate with and maintain close, responsive, and productive working relationships with internal GE groups as well as with external customers. • Be accountable for Controls cost and schedule targets working with functional managers. • Provide clear communication to the team and the business leaders.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related Engineering field from an accredited college or university.
- 10+ years work experience in the combined cycle power plant industry.
- Experience in design & application of GE power generation controls, electrical, or accessory systems.
- Experience in power generation requisition, working with customers, project mgt. or EPCs.
- System integration experience.
- Proven oral and written communication and presentation skills to the team and business leaders.
- Gas Turbine (experience GE Mark Vie is preferred), Steam Turbine and/or Plant controls knowledge / experience.
- Demonstrated ability to independently drive projects to completion.
- Demonstrated Technical writing expertise.
- Demonstrated experience in working successfully in technical leadership of a diverse team.
