About the team and the role: The Shipping Analytics team drives eBay’s most important shipping initiatives through data-driven insights, advanced analytics, AI, and experimentation. As a global, fast-paced team, they are focused on making shipping at eBay more reliable, accurate, affordable, and seamless for sellers and buyers around the world. This role is an opportunity for a hands-on analytics leader to operate as a strong individual contributor while leading a small team across high-impact initiatives in eBay’s shipping ecosystem. The person in this role will use data, experimentation, and AI to help launch and scale managed shipping solutions, optimize carrier routing, improve delivery performance, and increase adoption of eBay labels. Working closely with Product, Business, Finance, and Engineering partners, they will translate complex logistics data into clear strategies that improve reliability, reduce cost, and grow label profitability globally. What you will accomplish: - Apply advanced analytics, AI, and experimentation to solve complex business problems and improve eBay’s domestic and cross-border shipping experience. - Drive the growth and optimization of eBay’s managed shipping and label platform by defining success metrics, measuring impact, and identifying opportunities to scale globally. - Build predictive models and carrier rate simulations that improve shipping cost, delivery speed, reliability, and sustainability across carrier networks. - Identify friction across the seller shipping and label purchase journey, uncover customer pain points, and recommend product and business improvements that increase label adoption. - Design, execute, and evaluate experiments to inform decisions on product features, pricing, and policy, while partnering cross-functionally to turn insights into measurable outcomes. - Develop scalable data pipelines, dashboards, and AI-powered monitoring solutions that enable faster decisions, improve operational visibility, and detect performance issues in real time. What you will bring: - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field; advanced degree or MBA is a plus. - 8+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related quantitative role, with a track record of independently leading high-impact initiatives end to end. - Strong technical skills in SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools, with working knowledge of Python or R. - Experience in product analytics, experimentation, A/B testing, and causal inference, with the ability to translate analysis into business action. - Demonstrated success applying data science, optimization, and AI techniques to drive measurable business impact; familiarity with modern AI tools and LLMs is preferred. - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across Product, Engineering, Finance, and business teams in a fast-paced environment; experience in logistics, shipping operations, or carrier performance analytics is a plus. Additional Details The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below: $149,200 - $199,200 Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
