Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting

Protective Life

• Oversee preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements • Lead coordination and execution of external audits, serving as primary point of contact for audit requests • Plan and perform operational and financial audits, developing recommendations based on findings • Research and interpret accounting guidance; develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and monthly close deliverables • Analyze balance sheet and income statement fluctuations, identifying root causes and trends • Support monthly consolidation of multiple entities and preparation of management reporting packages • Prepare board materials, annual audit reports, and quarterly financial reporting packages • Lead initiatives to enhance reporting processes, controls, and operational efficiency • Support ad hoc analysis, special projects, and cross-functional initiatives

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and/or statutory reporting
  • Experience supporting or leading external audit processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
  • Experience reviewing financial statements, journal entries, and reconciliations
