Senior Fire Protection Designer
Mullins Mechanical
• Develop detailed fire sprinkler system designs and layout drawings using HydraCAD Software • Perform hydraulic calculations and material take-offs in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes. • Review architectural, structural, and mechanical plans to ensure proper system coordination. • Prepare submittals, fabrication drawings, and as-built documentation. • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field supervisors to ensure design intent and code compliance are achieved. • Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance as needed. • Stay current with updates to fire protection codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, IFC, etc.). • Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction).
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in fire sprinkler or fire protection design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Navisworks, and/or Revit.
- In-depth knowledge of NFPA, FM Global, and other related standards.
- NICET Level III or IV in Water-Based Systems Layout (preferred).
- Strong understanding of building and fire codes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple design projects.
