Role Description Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University seeks a strategic, collaborative, and innovative Executive Director of Digital Strategy and Experience to lead the University's enterprise digital ecosystem. Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Information Officer, the Executive Director is responsible for developing and executing the University's digital strategy to deliver engaging, accessible, and data-informed digital experiences that advance institutional priorities. This position is a teleworking (remote) opportunity. The Executive Director provides strategic leadership for the University's enterprise web platforms, intranet, digital signage ecosystem, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, web analytics platforms, AI-enabled engagement tools, and other digital technologies. The role oversees key enterprise platforms, including Sitecore CMS, Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Google Marketing Platform, and related digital solutions. The Executive Director partners closely with Marketing, Enrollment Management, and other University stakeholders to develop and execute digital strategies that support student recruitment, engagement, and institutional goals. Working collaboratively across academic and administrative units, this leader establishes the vision, governance, and roadmap for enterprise digital initiatives, ensuring digital experiences are user-centered, accessible, secure, aligned with the University's brand, and informed by analytics, user research, and emerging technologies. The Executive Director provides leadership and professional development for the University's web strategy, institutional multimedia, and CRM teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and service excellence. The position oversees enterprise digital projects from strategy through implementation, delivering scalable solutions that enhance engagement, support enrollment and advancement, strengthen the University's brand, and improve operational effectiveness. Key Responsibilities - Develop and execute the University's enterprise digital strategy aligned with institutional goals and priorities. - Lead the planning, governance, and continuous improvement of the University's digital presence, including websites, digital platforms, and user experiences. - Establish digital experience standards, governance models, and best practices to ensure consistency, accessibility, usability, and brand alignment. - Oversee enterprise web strategy, content governance, digital analytics, and search engine optimization (SEO) initiatives. - Lead cross-functional teams responsible for digital strategy, user experience (UX), web development, content strategy, and digital innovation. - Partner with academic and administrative departments to identify opportunities for improving digital services and user engagement. - Leverage analytics, user research, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and data-informed decision-making. - Manage digital transformation initiatives from planning through implementation while ensuring alignment with business objectives. - Collaborate with Information Technology, Marketing, Communications, Enrollment Management, and other campus partners to support enterprise-wide digital initiatives. - Develop policies, standards, and governance processes that support effective digital operations and long-term sustainability. - Manage departmental budgets, vendor relationships, project priorities, and resource allocation. - Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer-focused service. - Stay informed of emerging technologies, digital trends, accessibility standards, and higher education best practices. - Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Digital Media, or a closely related field. - Master's degree in a related discipline (preferred). - Seven or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in digital strategy, digital experience, web management, user experience, marketing technology, or related fields. - Experience leading enterprise digital transformation initiatives. - Experience managing cross-functional teams and large-scale digital projects. - Experience developing digital governance frameworks, standards, and best practices. - Experience utilizing web analytics and performance metrics to inform strategic decisions. - Demonstrated experience collaborating with executive leadership and diverse stakeholders. - Experience in higher education or another large, complex organization (preferred). - Experience managing enterprise content management systems (CMS) (preferred). - Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG), SEO, digital marketing technologies, and customer experience strategies (preferred).
