Job Description

People & Culture Advisor

Hunt St

Role Description We're looking for an experienced, self-directed People & Culture Advisor to own the full employee lifecycle for our team of around 25 people. This is a true generalist role, combining hands-on HR administration and compliance with end-to-end recruitment and resourcing. You'll be the sole People & Culture function in the business, working closely with the leadership team. We need someone senior enough to operate autonomously — setting up sound processes, exercising good judgement on compliance matters, and managing competing priorities without close supervision — rather than someone who needs a fully built-out HR framework to work within. Key Responsibilities - Recruitment & Resourcing (approx. 50% of role) - Manage end-to-end recruitment for all roles: job ad drafting and posting, sourcing, screening, interview coordination and shortlisting - Partner with hiring managers to scope roles, write accurate position descriptions, and set realistic hiring timelines - Build and maintain talent pipelines for hard-to-fill or recurring roles - Manage candidate communications and experience from application through to offer - Negotiate offers and issue employment contracts in line with company policy and relevant awards/agreements - Track and report on recruitment metrics (time-to-hire, cost-per-hire, source effectiveness) - HR Administration & Compliance (approx. 50% of role) - Coordinate onboarding and induction for new starters, including contracts, and system setup - Maintain accurate, compliant employee records - Administer employee lifecycle changes: variations, promotions, leave, and offboarding - Employee wellbeing support - Support payroll with accurate and timely data (new starters, leavers, changes) - Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act, relevant Modern Awards, and workplace health & safety obligations - Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and the staff handbook - Support quarterly performance review cycles, probation reviews, and basic employee relations matters - Act as a first point of contact for staff on HR policy, entitlements, and general people queries Qualifications - Essential - Demonstrated ability to manage full-cycle recruitment independently - Solid working knowledge of Australian employment law, the Fair Work Act, and Modern Award interpretation - Excellent judgement and the confidence to make sound calls without a large HR team behind you - Strong organisational skills with the ability to balance urgent recruitment needs against steady-state compliance work - High attention to detail, particularly around contracts, records, and compliance documentation - Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with staff at all levels, including senior leadership - Desirable - Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related field - Experience setting up or improving HR systems and processes from the ground up - Familiarity with HRIS and applicant tracking system (ATS) platforms - Experience in professional services or a comparable office-based environment Work Arrangement & Expectations - This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement. - To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to: - Be available for meetings and collaboration during core [AEST (AU) or PHT] business hours - Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work - Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)
