Role Description This is a Lead position within General Ledger Accounting. The role requires demonstrated ability to lead and develop a high‑performing team, along with proven capabilities in setting up multi‑country finance operations. Responsibilities include managing end‑to‑end accounting processes such as month‑end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. What You Will Do - Work with global teams across geographies and across all Harman businesses - Perform daily tasks independently while providing oversight and guidance to direct reports - Collaborate cross‑functionally within and outside GSSC - Provide backup support for team members and the line manager - Manage the month‑end closing process under IFRS, SEGAM principles, and applicable local GAAPs for in‑scope entities within Harman’s global organization - Review journal entries prepared by team members - Review key reconciliations prepared by the team to ensure no unusual balances remain in the balance sheet - Review financials for completeness and accuracy during month‑end close - Review and approve GL maintenance requests received from FP&A or the business - Respond to ad‑hoc queries related to general ledger closing and accounting activities - Manage financial reporting in Harman’s consolidation system - Review balance sheet GL accounts prepared by team members - Ensure aging is within agreed thresholds - Ensure timely clearance of open items within agreed timeframes - Escalate to relevant action owners to resolve open items in a timely manner - Review and periodically update control documentation and the Risk Control Matrix - Oversee compliance across all activities and ensure zero deficiencies - Oversee audit support and preparation of audit‑related analyses - Collaborate in defining global standards for closing and reporting activities and ensure execution in accordance with those standards - Prepare and present KPI dashboards - Research and address complex accounting issues to ensure compliance - Support assigned projects and initiatives - Support internal, external, and statutory audits by providing required documentation and explanations - Support ad‑hoc process requirements from customers - Prepare and maintain process documentation on a periodic basis - Drive continuous process improvements - Manage local and global stakeholders, including external professionals - Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports and provide feedback and development plans Qualifications - 8+ years of work experience in General Ledger Accounting in India - 3+ years of people management experience - Strong verbal and written communication skills in English - Demonstrated inclusive leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate teams with diverse backgrounds - Proven experience driving operational excellence, process improvement, and automation initiatives - Strong accounting knowledge with good understanding of US GAAP and IFRS - Enthusiastic self‑starter and quick learner with excellent communication skills - Willingness to work across EU and US time zones and deliver within tight timelines - Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) - Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and colleagues Bonus Points if You Have - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting: CA qualification required or Master’s degree or higher accounting qualification - Strong knowledge and hands‑on experience with SAP - Prior experience in shared services or BPO environments - Ability to work independently and perform under pressure - Strong attention to detail with analytical, multitasking, and problem‑solving skills - Ability to work across functional boundaries to deliver successful outcomes What Makes You Eligible - Willingness to travel internationally on an occasional basis, if required - Willingness to work from an office when needed; this role is eligible for full‑time remote work, with occasional visits to the Shared Services office (including short‑notice requirements) Benefits - Flexible work environment, allowing for full-time remote work globally for positions that can be performed outside a HARMAN or customer location - Access to employee discounts on world-class HARMAN and Samsung products (JBL, HARMAN Kardon, AKG, etc.) - Extensive training opportunities through our own HARMAN University - Competitive wellness benefits - Tuition reimbursement - “Be Brilliant” employee recognition and rewards program - An inclusive and diverse work environment that fosters and encourages professional and personal development
