Title: Helene Restoration Division Habitat Management Supervisor Job Classification Title Conservation Biologist Supervisor (NS) Position Number Description of Work Two positions: - Helene Restoration Division Habitat Management Supervisor - Nantahala* - Helene Restoration Division Habitat Management Supervisor - Pisgah* The Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC) is charged by General Statute 113-132 with the management, regulation, protection, and conservation of wildlife resources and inland fisheries in North Carolina. In the wake of Hurricane Helene, western North Carolina's forests, watersheds, and wildlife habitats sustained significant ecological damage. In response, NCWRC has established a 10-year time-limited division to lead a comprehensive, multi-year effort focused on ecological stabilization, species recovery, and long-term resilience. This division is responsible for the implementation of ecological restoration and infrastructure recovery across aquatic species, terrestrial species, habitat, genetics, infrastructure, and invasive species programs in close coordination with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and other partners. - Helene Restoration Division Habitat Management Supervisor - Nantahala* The Habitat Management Supervisor is an administrative and supervisory position responsible for supervising three habitat management teams in the NANTAHALA zone. The position is administratively responsible for 12 permanent, full-time employees, including the direct supervision of three Wildlife Conservation Technician II and nine Wildlife Conservation Technician I positions that make up the Habitat Management teams in the Nantahala zone. The position is administratively responsible for development of annual employee work plans meeting job performance review requirements, approving activity reports, approval of routine purchasing, maintaining inventory, and tracking expenditures of staff. - Helene Restoration Division Habitat Management Supervisor - Pisgah* The Habitat Management Supervisor is an administrative and supervisory position responsible for supervising three habitat management teams in the PISGAH zone. The position is administratively responsible for 12 permanent, full-time employees, including the direct supervision of three Wildlife Conservation Technician II and nine Wildlife Conservation Technician I positions that make up the Habitat Management teams in the Pisgah zone. The position is administratively responsible for development of annual employee work plans meeting job performance review requirements, approving activity reports, approval of routine purchasing, maintaining inventory, and tracking expenditures of staff. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences This position will be located in the Mountain Region and will be HOME BASED. This is TIME LIMITED position that ends September 2035. Recruitment Range: $70,478 - $106,020 MANAGEMENT PREFERENCES: - Experience supervising field teams to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. - Experience coordinating work across work groups and with partners to meet recovery and conservation goals. - Knowledge of habitat restoration, habitat management, and infrastructure construction practices sufficient to review and evaluate project plans and field work. - Experience identifying challenges, conflict resolution, tracking resources, managing budgets, and project/resource adjustments to keep work aligned with recovery objectives. - Experience with ArcGIS.
