Associate Payment Operations Analyst

BILL

Role Description The Payment Operations team is part of the broader Payments & Strategic Partnerships Team and ensures payments are processed securely, accurately, and timely, while balancing customer experience, growth, and compliance. As a Payment Operations Analyst, Assoc, you will play a key role in supporting both payment operations and legal operations workflows that protect BILL, our customers, and our partners. This role is responsible for executing high-accuracy operational processes, including payment exception handling and legal request processing. - Process and manage legal operations workflows including liens, garnishments, bankruptcies, subpoenas, levies, data pulls, and other legal inquiries in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. - Review, validate, and complete payment and legal requests with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring appropriate documentation, tracking, and timely resolution. - Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Support, and other cross-functional teams to research requests, resolve exceptions, and support escalations. - Maintain detailed case records, audit trails, and supporting documentation for legal and operational activities. - Investigate payment exceptions and account-related issues, identify root causes, and take action to resolve or escalate them appropriately. - Monitor queues and service levels to ensure time-sensitive legal requests and payment operations tasks are completed within required deadlines. - Perform data pulls and account research to support internal reviews, external requests, audits, and reporting needs. - Ability to exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive customer and legal matters. - Identify process gaps and recommend improvements that increase control, efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across payment and legal operations workflows. - Availability for flexible work hours, including early mornings and late evenings. Qualifications - Preferred: Experience in payments, legal operations, financial services operations, or back-office support functions. - Preferred: Familiarity with processing liens, garnishments, bankruptcy notifications, subpoenas, legal holds, or similar request types. - Preferred: Experience with Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) and/or Microsoft Office. Requirements - Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing requests. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. - Excellent communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.
