Role Description We're looking for an attorney with expertise in privacy law and AI governance to join Figma's Legal team. In this role, you'll collaborate with Product, Engineering, Policy, and Commercial teams to support Figma's responsible growth, advising on privacy compliance, AI product development, and emerging regulatory requirements. You'll play a key role in shaping how Figma navigates a shifting regulatory environment spanning privacy, AI, and emerging global frameworks while enabling innovation across our platform. This is a full-time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States. What you'll do at Figma: - Advise on global privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and emerging international frameworks, as they apply to Figma's products, features, and data practices. - Partner with Product and Engineering teams to assess legal and regulatory risks associated with AI features and products, including evolving requirements such as the EU AI Act. - Draft, review, and negotiate data processing agreements, data-sharing agreements, and other commercial contracts with privacy implications. - Conduct privacy reviews and AI impact assessments for new and existing products and features. - Develop and maintain privacy and AI governance policies, standards, and compliance programs. - Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and help shape Figma's legal strategy on privacy and AI matters. Qualifications - J.D. and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. - 4+ years of experience advising on privacy and data protection matters at a technology company, law firm, or both. - Deep knowledge of privacy frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and related global regulations. - Experience advising on AI, machine learning, or other emerging technology products and associated governance requirements. - Demonstrated ability to translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical guidance for business, product, and engineering teams. Requirements - While it's not required, it's an added plus if you also have: - Earned a privacy certification such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, or an equivalent credential. - Advised on AI ethics, algorithmic accountability, or responsible AI governance programs. - Negotiated commercial agreements involving data processing, data licensing, or other privacy-related considerations. - Supported trust and safety, content governance, or platform policy initiatives for consumer or enterprise products. • As Legal Counsel, you will handle corporate law matters within the proALPHA Group and ensure that resolutions, documentation, contracts and register-related processes are implemented accurately and on time. • You will manage corporate law matters for the proALPHA Group and ensure reliable documentation of advisory board and shareholder resolutions. • You will prepare, review and manage documents related to power of attorney (Prokura), management appointments, the appointment of auditors, and the approval and adoption of annual financial statements. • You will be responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements and legal documents—particularly in the corporate and management context—and for coordinating commercial register filings and collaboration with notaries. • You will support internal departments such as Purchasing and Facility Management in reviewing external contracts, NDAs, purchasing terms, lease agreements, amendments and other legal issues. • You will help develop legal operations processes and support the digitalization of central workflows within the Group Legal Department.

• Take ownership of the firm's operating model and help Harper James scale efficiently, consistently and commercially • Lead legal operations, drive AI-enabled transformation amongst the legal teams, improve client delivery and build the systems, processes and leadership capability needed for the next stage of growth • Lead Group Heads and legal delivery teams to improve performance, consistency and accountability • Build a scalable operating model across capacity planning, utilisation, quality and service delivery • Drive adoption of AI, automation and better workflows to improve productivity and client outcomes • Strengthen client experience, retention and service standards across the firm • Develop leadership capability, succession planning and knowledge-sharing across the legal teams • Lead major transformation initiatives that support growth, margin improvement and operational resilience • Maintain strong operational governance, risk management and regulatory controls as the business scales
