• Take ownership of the firm's operating model and help Harper James scale efficiently, consistently and commercially • Lead legal operations, drive AI-enabled transformation amongst the legal teams, improve client delivery and build the systems, processes and leadership capability needed for the next stage of growth • Lead Group Heads and legal delivery teams to improve performance, consistency and accountability • Build a scalable operating model across capacity planning, utilisation, quality and service delivery • Drive adoption of AI, automation and better workflows to improve productivity and client outcomes • Strengthen client experience, retention and service standards across the firm • Develop leadership capability, succession planning and knowledge-sharing across the legal teams • Lead major transformation initiatives that support growth, margin improvement and operational resilience • Maintain strong operational governance, risk management and regulatory controls as the business scales
Job Requirements
- Executive-level operational leadership experience
- Experience leading large fee generating teams through significant change
- Commercial acumen and an understanding of how to create scalable, profitable and sustainable growth in a PE-backed business
- Experience improving operational performance through technology and data and a best-in-class knowledge of legal technology, workflow automation or AI-enabled service delivery
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities

• Lead the drafting, review and negotiation of commercial agreements, including, without limitation, commercial agreements, vendor contracts and privacy/data protection agreements • Provide practical legal counsel to internal stakeholders on a wide range of legal matters, including but not limited to, privacy/data protection, health care, health regulatory, product regulatory, corporate/commercial, vendor due diligence, procurement, marketing, intellectual property, information technology/artificial intelligence and human resources • Supply legal responses to client questionnaires and requests for proposals/information • Support different legal, privacy, compliance, corporate governance, ethics, government affairs and enterprise risk management programs or initiatives • Collaborate with other subject matter experts as a member of a cross-functional team
• Draft, negotiate, and close enterprise SaaS/AI agreements, including relevant addenda and schedules (think DPAs) • Build and maintain contract templates and a negotiation playbook that empowers the sales team to move deals faster • Triage inbound redlines efficiently and establish contract review SLAs • Own day-to-day privacy compliance and data governance strategy • Manage vendor and partner agreements, including software licenses and professional services contracts • Serve as the embedded legal partner for Sales & Marketing, Product, Engineering and Finance • Identify legal risks early in the product development cycle and advise on mitigation without killing velocity • Build and refine the legal ops infrastructure, including contract management tooling and intake processes • Help to identify when to use outside counsel, and manage those relationships
• Review and interpret insurance policies, endorsements, and applicable statutes to determine coverage, exclusions, and obligations. • Draft and issue coverage position letters, including reservations of rights and denial letters, ensuring clarity and compliance with legal and regulatory standards. • Evaluate and provide input on coverage forms and policy language as needed by carriers. • Oversee and conduct complex claims investigations, including gathering evidence, reviewing reports, and analyzing liability and damages. • Develop and implement strategic approaches for claim resolution, including oversight of litigation when necessary. • Provide carriers with independent evaluations of claims based on investigation, experience, and input from outside experts and counsel. • Evaluate exposure and make settlement recommendations, including setting and managing reserves within carrier guidelines. • Negotiate settlements within authority limits, balancing legal risk, financial exposure, and business objectives. • Participate in mediations and settlement conferences as required. • Ensure all claims handling complies with Department of Insurance regulations and internal protocols. • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in the claims management system, including coverage analyses and strategic recommendations. • Serve as a trusted advisor to internal teams and carriers on coverage and complex claims issues. • Act as the primary coverage and strategy resource in interactions with external counsel, policyholders, and other stakeholders.
