Role Description We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager – Water Treatment Chemicals to lead the growth of our speciality chemicals business across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. Reporting directly to the Executive Committee, this strategic role offers the opportunity to work with a leading international technology partner, develop key client relationships, and drive commercial growth across multiple industries. - Develop and execute business growth strategies for water and wastewater treatment chemicals. - Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. - Build and maintain strategic relationships with municipalities, industrial clients, mining companies, consulting engineers, EPC contractors, water utilities, and other key stakeholders. - Manage the full business development process from prospecting through to contract negotiation and closure. - Develop strategic account plans and long-term customer relationships. - Collaborate with technical teams, Applications Specialists, and international partners to deliver customer-focused solutions. - Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging treatment technologies. - Represent Sizwe Amanzi at industry conferences, technical forums, and stakeholder engagements. - Prepare sales forecasts, market intelligence, and business development reports for executive leadership and international partners. - Visit existing and prospective clients throughout the assigned regions. - Conduct on-site sales presentations, product demonstrations, and technical discussions. - Maintain regular face-to-face client engagement and relationship management. Qualifications - Proven experience in business development, technical sales, or commercial leadership. - Demonstrated success in lead generation, pipeline development, and business conversion. - Experience selling technical products or solutions into industrial, municipal, mining, utilities, or infrastructure sectors. - Strong commercial, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. - Ability to engage with both technical and executive decision-makers. - Valid South African driver's licence and willingness and ability to travel throughout South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. - Experience within the water treatment, wastewater, speciality chemicals, process chemicals, or environmental sectors is highly advantageous. - Understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes and operational challenges. - Existing network within municipalities, water utilities, industrial clients, consulting engineering firms, or treatment plant operators is beneficial. - Background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related technical discipline is advantageous. - Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, strategic, and results-driven with a consultative approach to solution selling.
