Job Description

HR & People Operations Internship

TEACHY Upskilling

• You take responsibility across the HR tutors and People Operations area — from first contact with applicants to the structured support of our tutors. • You support the recruiting process for our tutors: screening, pre-selection, scheduling, and communication with applicants. • You conduct selection interviews in one-on-one and group formats. • You support onboarding and guide new tutors into their roles in a structured manner. • You are the contact person for organizational questions from our tutors. • You contribute to tutor marketing — especially job postings and candidate outreach on relevant platforms. • You prepare contracts, certificates, and references based on our templates. • You assist with matchmaking between tutor and student — taking profile, subject, and personality into account. • You work on our automation and digitalization projects — from process optimization and tool usage to reporting. • You bring your perspective to our team meetings — proactive thinking is explicitly encouraged, not merely tolerated.

Job Requirements

  • Ongoing university studies for the entire internship period (mandatory or voluntary internship).
  • German at C2 level — you communicate clearly, precisely, and appropriately for the audience.
  • Demonstrable interest in HR, People, and Organization — for both the communicative and analytical aspects.
  • Reliability and attention to detail: Tasks you take on are completed accurately, on time, and with clear documentation.
  • Willingness to learn and energy: You want to understand, not just execute tasks.
  • Integrity and a clear head: You address issues, stand by your work, and do the right thing even when no one is watching.

Benefits

  • Real responsibility from day one. No intern shadowing, no token tasks. You will be part of the operational team and contribute visible results.
  • Insight into the whole company. You will see how HR, Operations, and Business interact — and gain firsthand insight into how decisions are actually made here.
  • Direct collaboration with management. Flat hierarchies are not a buzzword here but everyday practice. Your ideas will be heard — and, ideally, implemented.
  • 100% remote work and flexible hours. Easily compatible with studies and daily life.
  • Structured feedback and modern tools. You build a solid practical profile that goes beyond a typical internship.
  • Qualified work reference and access to our TEACHY Tutor trainings (value: CHF 1,900) upon successful collaboration.

Role Description We're looking for a People Partner who can move comfortably between the strategic and the operational: - Coaching a manager through a tough performance conversation. - Working through a benefits enrollment workflow. This is a hybrid HRBP and People Operations role, ideal for someone who enjoys both sides of the work. You'll serve as a trust partner to the head of people, connecting people, process, and policy. You'll own meaningful parts of our employee lifecycle and compliance work, with the latitude to redesign ineffective processes. We're a growing company in a complex industry, seeking someone who views that complexity as a rewarding opportunity. What you'll do - Employee relations & performance management: - Serve as a trusted advisor to managers on performance issues, employee concerns, and team dynamics. - Coach managers through difficult conversations — performance improvement plans, corrective action, and terminations. - Conduct investigations into employee complaints with care, neutrality, and rigorous documentation. - Benefits administration: - Own the day-to-day administration of our benefits programs: health (medical, dental, vision); retirement savings; and ancillary perks & benefits. - Run open enrollment, handle qualifying life events, and field employee questions. - Identify gaps or pain points in our benefits experience and propose fixes. - Compliance & workplace safety: - Keep us compliant across federal and multi-state employment law — FLSA, FMLA, ADA, state leave laws, pay transparency, and more. - Own workplace safety reporting, including OSHA logs, incident response, and required postings. - Maintain employee files, I-9s, and other regulated records. - Partner with the head of people & Legal to stay ahead of regulatory changes affecting a distributed, multi-state workforce. - People operations: - Improve and own processes behind the employee lifecycle — onboarding, offboarding, internal transfers, and leaves of absence. - Build self-service resources and documentation for managers and employees. - Process improvement & AI: - Evaluate workflows for efficiency — "could this be faster, simpler, or smarter?" - Use AI tools to automate documentation drafting, policy summarization, ticket triage, data analysis, and reporting. Qualifications - 4+ years of progressive experience in HR business partnering and people operations / HR generalist work. - Demonstrated experience handling employee relations cases end-to-end, including performance management, investigations, and terminations. - Hands-on experience administering benefits programs (medical, 401(k), leave) and running open enrollment. - Solid grounding in multi-state US employment compliance, including workplace safety reporting (OSHA recordkeeping, incident reporting, postings). - Experience in a startup or high-growth environment, comfortable with ambiguity and change. - Experience in hospitality, travel, vacation rentals, hotels, or a similar industry is a strong plus. - Fluency with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.) and real examples of their use to improve work. - Excellent judgment, discretion, and follow-through. - Strong written communication skills. Requirements - PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent certification (nice to have). - Experience with ADP Workforce Now (nice to have). - Spanish language proficiency (nice to have). Benefits - Fully remote in the US, Central or Eastern time zones preferred. - Salary: $75,000–$82,500 USD per year, depending on experience and location. - Generous paid time off. - Generous company-sponsored insurance (medical, dental, vision, life, etc.). - Complimentary and discounted stays at AvantStay properties. - Paid parental leave. - Wellness stipend. - Cell phone stipend. Equal Employment Always We're proud to be an equal opportunity employer and celebrate our employees' differences, including race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, and Veteran status.
